Bashir is a 25-year-old father of one from Uganda. After dropping out of school at Senior 4 due to a lack of school fees, Bashir later joined a driving school and obtained a driving permit. He secured a job with a company, but the pay was very low, and there were months when he did not receive any salary, making it difficult for him to meet his family's basic needs. Due to the financial hardships and difficult working conditions, he eventually left the job and acquired a motorcycle through a loan, so he could earn a living through it. However, the weekly loan repayments, combined with his medical condition, have made life extremely difficult.
A year ago, Bashir noticed a swelling on his abdomen. It started small, but has overtime increased in size, and has been causing discomfort. Over the past two months, the condition worsened and began causing him significant pain, especially during sleep, bathing, and walking. The pain and the increased swelling has greatly affected his ability to work and provide for his family, prompting him to seek further medical attention from a surgeon.
Bashir has been diagnosed with a supraumbilical hernia, a tissue bulge that occurs just above the bellybutton, due to a weak spot in the abdominal wall. He needs surgery to prevent his symptoms from getting worse.
Fortunately, on March 5th, Bashir will undergo repair surgery at our medical partner's care center, Uganda Martyr's Ibanda Hospital. Our medical partner, African Mission Healthcare, is requesting $201 to fund his surgery, which once completed, will hopefully allow him to live more comfortably.
Bashir says, "I thank God that I came to Ibanda Hospital and was seen by the surgeon. I humbly seek support from kind-hearted donors, as I do not have the financial means to afford the treatment on my own. After my recovery, I look forward to resuming my work on my motorcycle so I can repay my loan, and provide a better life for my family. Your generous support will restore my health, renew my strength, and give me hope for a brighter future.”
