Prisma is the world’s most engaging virtual school—offering project-based curriculum, 1:1 mentorship, and real community

The traditional school system was designed over 100 years ago to prepare kids for a world that no longer exists—so it’s no surprise that over 50% of kids lose interest in school by 4th grade.
Prisma was built by a team of educators, tech entrepreneurs, and parents who were bold enough to believe a better way of preparing our kids for the future was possible.
We’ve discovered that all kids can get excited about school again—if learning is meaningful, engaging, and personalized. Our ethos is ‘hard fun’: interesting problems to solve, creative projects to tackle, and an environment where learning is dynamic and exciting.
The best of both worlds: your child joins a tight-knit peer cohort for daily workshops and connection, and a diverse global community through Prisma-wide clubs and events.
2-3 hours daily of interactive live teaching with peers: think debates, simulations, or design challenges over boring lectures. And learners present their work at Expo Day celebrations!

Interdisciplinary themes like 'Build a Business' and 'Unsolved Mysteries' cover core academics through projects kids actually want to finish, while providing them an accredited transcript and real-world skills.
Each learner is matched with a best-of-the-best educator (we hire 0.5% of applicants). Your learner’s coach provides personalized feedback on their work and meets 1-on-1 for goal setting and support.

Schools reward kids for checking boxes and following instructions. But in the real world, success comes from forging your own path and tackling problems without clear answers. Developing this kind of agency takes practice—and we’re failing kids if we let them wait until adulthood to start.
At Prisma, kids learn to love the hard work of building something meaningful—by practicing that process, a lot. Through our unique form of project-based learning, learners master academics at greater depth, while building the skills to make them the innovators and creators of the future.

“You have found the absolutely perfect way to make online learning work. The combination of engaging hands-on projects, interesting academic content, and fun group activities works beautifully.”
“I was excited when I first read about Prisma; implementation has exceeded my high expectations. Every minute seems meaningful and engaging. I’m seeing Ben grow in how he organizes his time and takes ownership of his learning. I love hearing the conversations happening and the way the coaches are skillfully building community.“

“Steffan appreciates the silly moments, the opportunity to be himself, and the flexible schedule that works for our family. I heard him tell a friend this weekend that school was fun. I have never heard him say that before!“

“You are providing the type of education that I want for my daughter. The patterns of thinking I see her developing are things that I did not start thinking until well into my twenties.”
“He gets excited about what he is learning and glows when he gets positive feedback, after he digs deeper and revises his work. He feels respected and seen by his coaches. He is, without a doubt, significantly happier at Prisma than his last school.”
That life-changing teacher you still remember? That’s who Prisma hires.
Our learning coaches are highly credentialed teachers. They’re also handpicked for their passion for working with young people (some might say they have superpowers).

If your learner is a self-starter who can consistently initiate and complete academic work (including writing) independently, you’ll likely spend less than an hour per day supporting them. If your learner needs significant support getting started or staying on track with work, or to write independently, you may need to spend more than two hours. Many learners begin Prisma somewhere in between, and all learners grow their self-management skills with Prisma’s focus on Initiative and Follow Through. When we surveyed new learners, 86% said they had made friends at Prisma after just 6 weeks. Prisma provides considerable opportunities for kids to form friendships, from our Standups, where learners meet daily with their coach and cohort to share their thoughts and have fun, to team challenges, small-group exercises, and group projects. We also have many popular learner-led Clubs, coach-led Enrichments, and partner-program Amplifiers as well as a vibrant online learner forum. Learn more about our community for learners and families.
Learners who attend Prisma are prepared with all the prerequisite skills to be successful in any rigorous academic program. They also graduate with a unique portfolio of projects in all subjects, service learning experiences, and authentic writing assignments. They complete a year-long capstone, an internship, and have the opportunity to tackle dual enrollment, AP, and advanced/honors coursework. Portfolios and projects are becoming increasingly recognized as essential in developing a standout college application.
There are as many different schedules as there are learners at Prisma! We live in different time zones, have a wide range of interests, and engage in varying outside commitments. Prisma allows for substantial flexibility while also prioritizing collaboration and community. You’ll get to build your child’s schedule collaboratively with your learner’s mentor coach when you enroll. View a typical day for Lower School, Middle School or High School.
