I bought this for my house with too many computers (and more coming). I have a 16 port and an 8 port switch and only about half of the ethernet cables were labeled correctly. With this labeler, a tracer and a minor struggle, everything is now clearly labeled on both ends. The WireMarker label type at 1.2 inch length works perfect for CAT 6 and I was able to choose a font that makes the labels easier to read than some of my existing ones. I like the way it does not waste tape (short path from print head to tape exit) and that it has many options for general as well as wire labeling. You do have to press the keys with conviction and a QWERTY arrangement would make typing easier for me. The Print button is right next to the Clear (backspace) button so I inadvertently wasted a couple of labels hitting the wrong button. The labels themselves are excellent and stay put but can be readily removed. The manual that comes with it only contains information that is self-evident, but the real manual is available on Brady's web site and has a complete description of all the supported label types (e.g. Banner Portrait, Vial etc.). I seems a little weird that you have to charge the battery outside the unit (like maybe it was an afterthought) but I don't expect to need to charge it very often for my application. In the end this made a grubby task less painful so I would buy again if necessary. Now (not today but soon) I'm going to label all the HDMI cables on my receiver.

It's really well made, surprisingly well made for the price. The cartridges are pricey, but IMO totally worth it. I've used the sleeved heat-shrink labels for when I'm doing wiring, and the flat labels for just about everything else. It's easy so easy to use, you can install the cartridges, enter data, and print and cut labels without really even needing to read the manual.

My only beef is that the keyboard isn't laid out like QWERTY keyboards, so when I do use it it takes me a sec to remember where to find the letters. It has a slew of symbols and special characters built-in which is nice for electrical wiring, etc.

This is the best and most versatile label maker I've ever worked with. The nylon cloth tape sticks to just about anything. Absolutely great for labeling wires and cables, breaker boxes or whatever you wanna stick a label on. This kit is a great starter kit. Two minor complaints- 1 The rechargeable battery must be directly connected to the charger. Just plugging the charger into the machine will not charge the battery. 2 The keyboard would be easier to operate if it were a standard QWERTY layout instead of in alphabetical order.
Overall a great label machine. I use mine all the time.

The good news is that this printer has a lot of features. The bad news is that this printer has a lot of features. There are so many features and options that make it useful for a wide variety of applications, but there are so many features and options that make it hard to figure out how to use and remember them. I agree with other reviewers that unless you use this machine on a regular (daily) basis in many different formats, you'll be using a lot of very expensive tape trying to get the desired results. Sixteen feet of tape sounds like a lot, but it does not last very long. I have only had this for two months and have not used it often enough to familiarize myself with it as of yet. As I become more used to it, I hope to come back to edit this review. Overall, I think the value of the kit itself is very good. The main reason for less than five stars is for the value of the replacement tapes. Although this has nothing to do with the quality of the kit, it may help you decide on whether or not to buy this particular printer.

I bought one of these last year to replace a damaged Brother unit, dropped while working on a systems install. I liked that Brother (one of the orange colored ones you can pick up at Home Depot), and almost bought another one, but started looking at self laminating labels instead, as the cable flag I had on the Brother was unsightly, and had a less professional look.

I had seen this Brady unit at Home Depot, but liked the kit I found here on Amazon, which came with the case and charger. I've since also bought the magnet base for it.

I've told several friends who are in the same line of business as I am, how much I liked this unit, and they have all bought one as well. The self laminating labels are awesome for cable work, and there are a wide variety of other styles and colors of labels to pick from. The battery lasts "forever" - ok not literally, but a really long time in my use of it. Even after 8 hours of constant use, it was still going.

The magnet base is a nice accessory, as is the stand, if you work in an area where mounting this or sitting it on a table makes more sense. I find the neck strap is a little long and thin, but that's easily fixed with another strap.

Besides the self laminating label option with this printer, the other major benefit I see is that while you will notice there is less tape per cartridge than you'd find in other systems such as the Brother I had, I think because of how this unit works you waste less tape per print, thus meaning you get more out of the 14' that's in the spool.

All in all a great unit, it's been working like a champ.

I've been using this to label copper ethernet cabling and single mode fiber pairs. It works quite well, printing quickly and with good quality. The OEM label tape for regular labels and for cabling are very good quality and I've had no issues with either. Battery life is excellent. I'd rather have a protective sleeve than the case - it's far too bulky to really use for airplane travel but I suppose if you're throwing it in a van or on a tool shelf in a datacenter it's ok.

Solid labelling machine. Love the rechargeable lithium ion battery. Use this machine frequently. Presets are helpful, and the label settings are versatile. Works for any labeling application. I tend to use it mostly to label networking cables and patch panels.

Only negative is that the labels are very expensive; running about $35/CDN for a single roll (19ft I believe). Heat shrink labels are even more.

Very high quality unit. It feels well built and is pretty intuitive to use. The paper it uses appears to be a fiber based paper. I wager it will conform to irregularities well and adhere strong. Think regular plastic bandaids that never stick well, to the fabric kind that you dread taking off. FYI I ordered the spare paper role separately. The unit comes with a 3/4 wide paper, which you can see on the torque wrench’s.
