Protecting wild lands in southern Vermont

When: Saturday, April 25th, 2026

Where: Deer Run Nature Preserve Dummerston VT

On April 25 at 10 AM, Roger Haydock, well-known trail developer, will lead a hike on the Monument Trail (2 miles) and the Shoulder Trail (1/2 mile) at the Deer Run Nature Preserve at 922 Camp Arden Road in West Dummerston.  Meeting at the trail head, hikers will proceed on a beautiful woodland trails through various forest hikes to a curious stone structure of unknown origin at the summit.  From there, they will take the 1/2 mile Shoulder Trail to expansive views of the West River Valley.

Free and open to the Public: Please join the Green Mountain Conservancy (GMC) and Jaclyn Comeau this Earth Day 2026 to learn about Vermont’s black bears. Vermont Fish and Wildlife biologist, Jaclyn Comeau will present on black bear biology, their behaviors and common situations that lead to conflicts between people and bears. Jaclyn will provide practical steps we can all take to prevent these conflicts and keep Vermont a great place for bears to live.
