jucheck.exe is a legitimate software component associated with the Java Platform Standard Edition (SE) Auto Updater. It is developed by Oracle Corporation, formerly Sun Microsystems. The file is typically located in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Java\Java Update directory.
The Java Platform SE Auto Updater is a software utility that automatically keeps your Java Runtime Environment (JRE) up-to-date. The jucheck.exe is the Java Update Checker, which is a part of this utility. It periodically checks for any available updates for the Java software installed on your computer. If an update is available, it notifies the user and provides the option to download and install the update.
The jucheck.exe is needed if you want to keep your Java software up-to-date automatically. Regular updates are important as they often contain critical patches to security vulnerabilities and improvements to software performance.
If you do not use any Java-based applications or if you prefer to manually update your software, you may choose to remove or disable the jucheck.exe. Some malware may disguise itself as jucheck.exe. If you find it located outside of the Java Update directory or if it's causing issues with your system, it's recommended to run a malware scan to ensure your system's security.

Jucheck.exe is java's update checker. Why someone flagged it as dangerous is beyond me. BM
Jucheck.exe will check on the internet for available updates for the Java Virtual machine installed on your computer. If updates are available it will notify you and/or manage the download and install of the updates. Demon

Java wants to update Chris
There is a version residing at "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\jucheck.exe" -- size 422K (Windows 7) published by Sun Microsystems that is a legitimate checker to see if you have the latest Java version. If you do not need Java, you can uninstall it or also you can disable the automatice update feature in the settings. Java is not critical to Windows but may be required by some applications. Terry
still do not know if it is safe or I need it to run properly dee

Only need one of these files so delete any that have notbeen accessed in a while. Or check for updates manually and remove this exe file. TonyDL (further information)
It's Java Update. Nothing wrong with it! Rhys
it is simply used as a Java Updater, assumung that the program really is as it says. Madison (further information)
I believe it's some kind of Nazi software used in WW2 SS
It comes with a brand new machine, installed at C:\Windows\System32, so it is hardly true that 94% of the ocurrences in this folder are dangerous. Carlos
We have received a brand new laptop from Dell with Windows 7 Home Premium on it. UAC reports jucheck.exe running from "C:\Windows\System32\jucheck.exe". This seems contrary to the information available here. Sean
It's the Java runtime updater If you use a program written in Java, then you'll need this to run. Firefly
Found four on my computer, three in the right places and one in win32 (the one that keeps prompting the security check). Think I'll delete that one as I don't trust it based on other information from around the internet. T
Java updater - Windows Vista / 7 complain when it tries to check unless you accept it. Joe
jucheck.exe dosen't show up on file searches, so it hides it's location, therfore, it's OBVIOUSLY spyware or some other malicious program. Superdog
If you look there is a java scheduler called jusched.exe not jucheck.exe, the jusched is registerd as sun micro and is in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Java\Java Update\jusched.exe Iowa

Its coming up crashed Sims 3 a couple of times. I set it to not notify about 5 times. I finally gave up and just uninstalled Java from my system. scm
It was in my C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\jucheck.exe. My norton program said it could be trusted, so I took the chance. It just updated my java. Leo
To make sure, I updated Java to the latest version directly from Java.com. Why can't but jucheck.exe keep saying I should install the latest version of java, that bothers me; why can't it detect the newest version I installed? It looks suspicious to me Ios
You can delete it if you like, though you'll have to update your Java manually if you do. Anonymous
It seems like jusched.exe is the java updater. Why would jucheck.exe with such an obvious similarity appear? Ted
java update check - completley harmless :) Zahra
it is a java updater, IF its where its supposed to be, otherwise its a trojan. It ruined my computer once so watch out AK
I have let it run - no problems. (windows 7 64bit, in C:\windows\system32) Chris

I located it in a different Java sun folder besides another jucheck.exe it's digital signature was from aidex i tried deleting it from a temp folder but going into this java floder and finding the unknown publisher one and removing it seemed to get rid of it rycon325
I found one in C:\Users\[me]\AppData\Local\Temp I renamed it for now and the access tries stopped Don M
A Trojan horse if runs from C:\Users\AppData\Local\Temp\jucheck.exe Michael (further information)
No this is NOT a java updater.Anything with the name juchuck.exe and jucheck.exe is a virus pretending to be a java updater. I just recently had to deal with removing this nightmare! If you dont believe me first notice how the user of it is UNKNOWN.Red flag right there.Secondly java does NOT need your permission to check for updates unless you change the setting manually. So this should also send up a red flag. The proper java update device is..um i forgot but if you press ctrl shift esc you can see it in the running programs section. My point is that its a virus that is hard to detect.
Unless the publisher is Java, then it's a virus. People are so quick to think people are dumb and not know what jucheck.exe is, but it is actually a virus that uses the same name. Click more details on the popup and see where the file is. If it's not in a Java folder, then it's a virus. JRR (further information)
it turned out to be a trojan virus Michael R
It's a virus, my AVG said it was a threat/ Melissa
Found it in C:/Windows/Prefetch. Since it's not hiding itself, and is visible, and it won't let you not download it, then it is most likey needed in order to have Java. Scanned it just now. It isn't hidden, no suspicion, nor detection. Seems fine. Brooke
Avira AntiVir told me it was a trojan virus. It quarantined it and everything. B
Java has a big hole, used by outsiders to control your computer. The type of infiltration is Trojan. The Trojan contains a backdoor. It can be controlled remotely. The trojan creates the following files: Glaukus (further information)
When you uncheck the automatic updates in Java's properties, the checkbox becomes checked when you start your system up. Therefore it is a form malware. Do not trust it. SD

I accept jucheck.exe to download Java update and lost internet. I have win7 on my computer, so it takes time to repair. Leo
As of 4/9/2013, the serious security venerability in version 7 update 7 still hasn't been fixed. Java is at currently at 7 update 14. I have disabled Java until it is fixed as has been recoomend by the US government. Firefox has built in blocking java into it's software. Harrier

Best practices for resolving jucheck issues
A clean and tidy computer is the key requirement for avoiding problems with jucheck. This means running a scan for malware, cleaning your hard drive using 1cleanmgr and 2sfc /scannow, 3uninstalling programs that you no longer need, checking for Autostart programs (using 4msconfig) and enabling Windows' 5Automatic Update. Always remember to perform periodic backups, or at least to set restore points.
Should you experience an actual problem, try to recall the last thing you did, or the last thing you installed before the problem appeared for the first time. Use the 6resmon command to identify the processes that are causing your problem. Even for serious problems, rather than reinstalling Windows, you are better off repairing of your installation or executing the 7DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth command. This allows you to repair the operating system without losing data.
To get your computer running as fast as it did on day one, you can 8reset your PC. Your personal files will remain intact, but any programs you installed will need to be reinstalled.
To help you analyze the jucheck.exe process on your computer, the following programs have proven to be helpful: ASecurity Task Manager displays all running Windows tasks, including embedded hidden processes, such as keyboard and browser monitoring or Autostart entries. A unique security risk rating indicates the likelihood of the process being potential spyware, malware or a Trojan. A good Bantivirus software detects and removes sleeping spyware, adware, Trojans, keyloggers, malware and trackers from your hard drive.
