Advanced Imaging Technology

Hear Every Detail of Your Mix with Kali’s 3-D Imaging Waveguide

The 3-D Imaging Waveguide allows you to hear a 3-D soundstage from a stereo pair of speakers. By matching the shape of the waveguide to the interactions of the HF and LF drivers, this waveguide produces a stereo image that is wider, taller, and deeper than the space where the speakers are placed. The LP-6 accomplishes this by ensuring that the speaker’s reflected sound matches its direct sound. Every time you hear a loudspeaker, you're hearing both the direct sound from the speaker, and reflections from the speaker's signal bouncing off of objects in the room. When those reflections are congruent with the direct sound from the speaker, listeners perceive a better sound overall, and are able to make out very subtle details like where microphones are placed in a room.

When done very well, the stereo image will be three-dimensional. This gives users a very high degree of confidence in their mix. It allows them to mix faster, and produce better mixes overall.

Incredible Sound and Design - Brilliant Company!
I was about to buy JBL 3-series speakers for my nascent home studio and a composer friend said Hans Zimmer’s mastering engineer recommended Kali Audio over the JBLs. I love JBL, but started doing research on Kali Audio. Despite being a new company, they have plenty of expertise. From what I’ve read, key engineers and designers (3 and 7 series) from JBL left the company and started Kali Audio in 2018. The audio quality and product design - including the brilliant setup options via dip switches - support this story. Kali Audio 6.5” studio monitors simply sound awesome! Soft and sweet with plenty of low-end, but loads of clarity in the mids and hi-end. I haven’t messed with the LF or HF trim on the monitors, just left them flat (you can change +/- 2 db for low and high). The imaging is great too - like having a third speaker in the middle! In short, I am extremely happy with these speakers. They inspire me to create music and make playback of all music very fulfilling.

I love these speakers. The value for the money is awesome. The frequency response is pretty well behaved. I have some room mode issues I need to EQ, but these are great out of the box. They don't get super loud especially at some distance. If you want these for a desk, they're great (though large), if you want them for listening at a distance, make sure you don't listen too loud. I'm generally around 85dB or 9ft/3m and they're good for that. Lots of options on the back.
    Things I don't like:
    1. The blue light! Why do they go with an annoying blue light that cannot be turned off?? I had to resort to gaffer tape.
    2. Pretty big in size.
    3. Wish they could get louder.
    4. As long as I'm wishing and since they seem to do DSP internally, I wish they had a high pass filter option if I'd be using them with a sub and don't have another option for doing the crossover.

They're great for the money though. I really love them.

These monitors are a crazy good value! The dip switches on the back allow you to adjust their response to be optimized for your mix room, depending on your room and listening position.
The bass extends nicely deep and strong. The high end is a little lacking. They aren’t as shimmering as I prefer, but they’re also not hyped and crappy sounding. The mids are a little clumsy, but they provide decent imaging for panning placement.
Their dynamic range kinda blows too, but they do hit nice and hard at high volumes. I won’t be listening at those volumes very often, but it’s nice to know it’s there.
These are great near-mid field monitors. If you have a bigger mix room (>500 sq ft) get the LP-8s. You’ll need the extra push and low end extension.
I’m interested in the sub made for these monitors. If it’s half as good as the full range speakers, it’ll be a good one!

These monitors are phenomenal, they have such a flat, neutral sound to them that mixing my tracks are way more accurate then it used to be. No built in EQ means your tracks tell you the truth of what you’re lacking and what you need to add.

The low end is very present but not overpowering, again, they tell you what you actually need in the track. High end is also very balanced and the fact that the tweeters pop back out when pushed in is fantastic. You get 3 different connections, RCA, TRS and XLR, always great to have options.

In the case of the Kali LP-6 monitors, you get more than what you pay for, these speakers could easily be on the market for $600 and still do just as well. Kali Audio customer for life.

Sound amazing. most accurate monitors ive used in my studio. Only reason they dont have 5 stars is because they arnt as loud as i wish. they are loud dont get me wrong... im just going deaf lol. if volume is a concern of yours and you really like your music loud, then just go for the bigger ones for another 200 bucks. but they have amazing clarity and accuracy which is something you dont find in more budget friendly monitors. nifty dip switches in the back that make it easy to dial in whats best for your surroundings in your studio. Would recommend to anyone in any level of recording experience or demands.

These speakers are exactly what I’m looking for. I play guitar for our church’s worship service and use a modeling pedal board . Practicing in a bedroom size room at home, I don’t need tons of volume, just something that allows a true representation of the sound I create with the board, so I can be prepared Sunday without a ton of dialing things in. The sound is great, the volume isn’t overwhelming and compared to the new FRFR speakers that are available, they sound great at room levels.

I have Sony MDR-7506 headphones, and I wanted something that sounded similar to them. The headphones are known for having very weak bass, but clear and balanced audio. Far too many speakers I looked at and listened to just had the bass turned to 11 and everything else just muddy. These studio monitors are different, they provide the clear balanced audio I was hoping to find. The bass is actually surprisingly strong, more than I expected. The quality of vocals in music and voices in videos are very clear and balanced. I have yet to listen to anything that sounds "muddy". If you are a fan of clear, balanced audio without excessive bass, these are perfect.

5.0 out of 5 stars The almost perfect lp6!
Reviewed in India on July 4, 2019
TL;DR : Incredible midrange! Soundwise, the LP6 will compete with monitors costing 3x its price. You won't find any studio monitor close to this price that offers this much detail.

I bought these as a replacement for my eve audio sc205 speakers which needed repair.

    Detailed impressions :
Day 1: Upon opening the box, I noticed that these were quite big for their woofer size. I set them up on stands and started listening to commercial records. My very first moments listening to these weren't impressive. I wasn't blown away. They just sounded balanced and coherent from treble to bass .. The crossover sounded very transparent, unlike other budget speakers. However, the magic started after 1 hour into the listening session. I found myself pulling apart commercial mixes and understanding the technical details very well. The midrange was so incredibly detailed and dynamic. It must have something to do with the large magnet. The biggest culprit in budget studio monitors is the crossover. The lp6 sounded transparent in that area making it easier for the brain to understand what is going on.

1 week later: During this phase, I remixed 3 of my previous projects and compared it to the mixes I had done on my previous monitors. The new mixes had better balance and a more natural sound. I experienced no struggle with any part of the frequency spectrum. I then moved the monitors further apart by another feet. The soundstage is now so 3-dimensional that you can see the depth of the mix in front of you.
During the mixing sessions, I could hear the pitch of the kick drum and and when the attack was wrong. Pleasantly surprised This speaker was much better for mixing than my previous speakers that costed 3x.

2 weeks later : I've developed a bond of trust with the monitors. These are so truthful. Whenever I start a mix, these do not sound great. But they start to sound coherent once the mix is 80% done. The rest is upto me referencing on car speakers and re-adjusting some of the details. The balancing of the bass guitar is usually correct in the first draft.

3 weeks later : I feel like I can never trust any other speakers. The LP6 is very honest. You do need some secondary reference after you have done 80% of the mix. Car speakers are the best for this purpose.

    So what is the flaw?
I have heard of a number of users complain about a loud hiss coming from the amplifier. My pair does not have this problem. I wouldn't blindly recommend this speaker for that reason. You may get a speaker that has an audible hiss. In that case, Kali Audio offers solid after-sales support.
The 2nd flaw is applicable to small rooms. The LP6 needs somewhere around 4.5 feet to 5 feet of distance between them to really open up the soundstage. These are definitely not meant to be placed on your table closeup. They need dedicated stands and space.

For the same price, you get the yamaha HS5 monitors. The midrange on the hs5 is nowhere close to these. You hear a lot more on the lp6 and lower bass extension.

5.0 out of 5 stars Home recording ad alti livelli
Reviewed in Italy on March 6, 2020
Spedizione puntuale.
