It provides a supportive and inclusive environment for both new and experienced researchers to develop their ideas.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>On this site, you can find out about:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"bitsmaller\">\n<li>our <a title=\"Day Conferences, Past and Future Meetings of the BSRLM...\" href=\"https:\/\/bsrlm.org.uk\/events.html\">termly day-conferences<\/a><\/li>\n<li>our <a title=\"BSRLM publications catalogue and order form...\" href=\"https:\/\/bsrlm.org.uk\/publications.html\">publications<\/a><\/li>\n<li>how <a title=\"Why you should, and how you can, join BSRLM...\" href=\"https:\/\/bsrlm.org.uk\/join.html\">to join<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We look forward to seeing you soon.<\/p>\n<p>Members include teachers, researchers, students and education advisors.<\/p>\n<p>Members\u2019 research interests include the teaching and learning of mathematics, mathematics assessment, mathematics curriculum development and mathematics teacher education and professional development.<\/p>\n<p>Members\u2019 research covers the full range of mathematics education, from pre-school to further and higher education, as well as learning in the workplace and other contexts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"link\"><a href=\"https:\/\/bsrlm.org.uk\/pubsdocs\/BSRLM-Constitution-2011-11-00.pdf\">The BSRLM constitution is here<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Learning from the classroom<\/h2>\n<p>New BERA SIG event announced on &#8216;Learning from the classroom \u2013 Practitioner research in mathematics education&#8217; &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/bsrlm.org.uk\/bera-sig.html\">read further details<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>What We Do<\/h2>\n<p>The aims of BSRLM are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To be the major forum for research into mathematics education in this country;<\/li>\n<li>To be both an environment for supporting new researchers and a forum for established ones;<\/li>\n<li>To be accessible to as wide a range as possible of people interested in mathematics education;<\/li>\n<li>To promote the conduct and dissemination of research in mathematics education in this country.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>BSRLM organises three <a title=\"Day Conferences, Past and Future Meetings of the BSRLM...\" href=\"https:\/\/bsrlm.org.uk\/events.html\">day-conferences<\/a> each year. Members take advantage of a supportive atmosphere to present reports of work-in-progress, recently completed studies, or more speculative thinking. Informal proceedings, comprising short papers from meetings, are published.<\/p>\n<p>We organise the British Educational Research Association (BERA) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bera.ac.uk\/sigs\/info\/mathematics-education\">Mathematics Education Special Interest Group (SIG)<\/a>. This is a a forum for bringing together educational researchers interested in a wide range of questions and concerns involving the teaching and learning of mathematical ideas, both inside and outside of formal educational settings.<\/p>\n<p>BSRLM publications include occasional monographs, annual collections of reviewed research papers from 1990-2000 and, since 2000, the journal Research in Mathematics Education, published by Taylor and Francis.<\/p>\n<p>RME now has its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tandf.co.uk\/journals\/rrme\/\">own page on the publisher\u2019s website<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Janet Duffin Award<\/h3>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/bsrlm.org.uk\/janet-duffin-award.html\">Janet Duffin Award<\/a> is made annually by the Society to the author (or authors) of what is judged to be the most outstanding contribution \u2014 either research paper or essay review \u2014 published in the Society\u2019s journal, Research in Mathematics Education [RME], during the preceding calendar year.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bsrlm.org.uk\/janet-duffin-award.html\">More information here&#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BSRLM is a national organisation for people interested in research and scholarship in mathematics education.
