Expanded File Preview Support in Dokkio

Dokkio now supports previews for larger files.

Previously, some files, particularly slide decks converted to PDFs, exceeded our preview limit.

We’ve increased that limit from 21MB to 50MB, allowing significantly more files to render directly inside your workspace.

If you encounter a file type or specific document that still doesn’t generate a preview, even though it should, please notify us at support@dokkio.com. If possible, include an example file so our team can review it.

As always, thank you for your feedback; it directly shapes how we improve Dokkio.

Enhanced Video Support Is Now Available in Dokkio

We’ve rolled out improved video support in Dokkio, making it easier to recognize, preview, and work with video files directly in your workspace.

Here’s what’s new:

Smarter video thumbnails:
Instead of a generic video icon, Dokkio now displays an actual frame from your video as the thumbnail. That means faster visual recognition and less guesswork when scanning files.

Expanded video size support:
You can upload and store videos up to 500MB in your account.

MP4 playback is now supported:
MP4 videos can now be played directly in Dokkio, no downloads or external tools required.

These updates are designed to make video content easier to manage, preview, and understand alongside the rest of your files.

New ‘All Chats’ in Dokkio Lets You Search and Tag Chats

The Dokkio team is excited to announce that new AI updates are now live across Dokkio, making it easier and faster to work with your files and conversations.

First, as we mentioned in a separate post recently, AI Content Chat has a new home on the homepage. With these updated styling and performance improvements, asking questions, summarizing content, and working with your documents feels smoother and more intuitive than ever.

We’ve also introduced a permanent home for all AI-generated chats and files in your account. Whether conversations come from Chat Plus using Claude, Gemini, or ChatGPT, or from AI Content Chat, everything is now organized in one place. On our new All Chats page, you can:

  • View conversations by chat source
  • Organize by company, project, or tags
  • Quickly find anything using search

You’ll find a link to the All Chats page in the lower section of the global navigation.

Dark Mode Is Now Live in Dokkio

One of the latest improvements to the Dokkio user experience is native dark mode support in the Dokkio app across web, Mac, and Windows.

If dark mode is enabled in your operating system or browser, Dokkio will now automatically respect that setting. Dark mode has quickly become the preferred experience for many users, and numerous studies show that a majority of web users now interact with apps in dark mode by default.

For users who previously relied on browser extensions to force dark mode, those tools should continue to work. That said, we encourage you to try Dokkio’s new built-in dark mode support for a smoother and more consistent experience.

Please note that this update applies specifically to the Dokkio app. Dokkio Sidebar (our browser extension) has supported dark mode for some time.

Upcoming Dokkio UX Changes

AI Content Chat Has a New Home in Dokkio

We’ve made AI Content Chat more convenient and accessible for all Dokkio users. 

You’ll now find AI Content Chat pinned at the top of the Dokkio homepage, making it more readily available to chat, search, and work alongside your files from the moment you log in to Dokkio.

Some users with older versions of the Dokkio UI may not have the AI Content Chat Enabled on their home screen. Our team is happy to help enable it and guide you through the process of getting started.

We’re excited to share that In-App Chat is now rolling out across Dokkio accounts.

Thanks to valuable feedback from early testers (you know who you are!) we’ve refined the experience and added new capabilities to help make your content more accessible and actionable.

In-App Chat brings ChatGPT-style intelligence directly into the Dokkio web app, Dokkio for Windows, and Dokkio for Mac. It’s built to help you:

Find what matters fast – Search across your documents and emails in natural language.

Act on what you find – Rename files, clean up folders, or draft follow-up emails instantly.

Pick up where you left off – Your chat history is saved and can easily be revisited and reused.

See more, faster – Relevant documents are now linked directly in your chat results.

Access more easily – In-App Chat now lives right under “Home” in the global navigation bar.

Want Smarter Search in Dokkio? Join Our New Test Group

We’re rolling out a new feature in Dokkio called Semantic Search, and we’re inviting interested users to start using it now.

Semantic Search lets you find content based on meaning, not just keywords. Instead of matching exact phrases, Dokkio will understand what you’re looking for and return relevant files, even if the words don’t match exactly.

For example:

You search: “vacation plans”

Dokkio might surface files about hotels, travel bookings, trip itineraries—anything related to a vacation, even if “vacation” isn’t mentioned.

This feature is designed to make your searches faster, more intuitive, and much more powerful.
