Welcome to the Reconnect Cosplay and Masquerade page

Masquerade has a long tradition at Eastercons and we have a large number of members who are interested in sewing and crafting, and bringing their fandom to life.

This year, we are trying something new to revive this interest and to offer and promote Eastercons to the vibrant Cosplay community that is active in Belfast.

We are offering a hugely reduced membership of £5 to all Cosplayer for the Saturday. For that you will be able to walk our venue in costume and be admired! And you will be able to enter the Cosplay competition.

Competition:

There will be a “Cat walk” event in the afternoon (Time TBC) where you will be able to show off your costume and where prizes will be awarded. Your costume will be introduced by the host Gabrielle Riddiough and then you will have a walk on stage. This will be a walk on/walk off opportunity, no scenes. Each entry has about a minute to present itself. Cosplayers will have been judged for their workmanship when they register, but our Guest of Honour Jeanette Ng will have the deciding vote for the “fun” effect. Prizes will be handed out after the cat walk.

Judging will take place when you arrive and register. Our head judge is Joanne Alexander, a well known Cosplayer herself.

If you want to enter the competition there are a number of things you need to know.

  • You need to have made OVER 75% of your entire cosplay.
  • If your costume is not self-made you can still display your costume on stage but will not be judged for a prize.
  • You need to be 15 and over to take part in the competition part of the cosplay event.
  • There is a weapons policy. Please see the Code of conduct page for the policy or click on the button below.

Prices will be awarded at the end of the Cat Walk event:

1st Prize – £100

2nd Prize – £75

3rd Prize -£50

There will be a number of additional £25 prizes by judge’s discretion.

Junior Cosplay

Junior entries (14 and under) are more than welcome, but will not be judged! You will also have the opportunity to join us on the cat walk. Any junior entry will receive massive applause and a little present. It will give you a brilliant opportunity to train your presentation skills.

Masquerade

There will be no traditional masquerade. You can still come and show off a costume as part of the Cat Walk event, but this will be outside of the cosplay competition. There will be no time for scenes on stage, I’m afraid. However, there may be chocolate.

If you are interested, please follow the link to sign up for either the Cosplay competition.

Please also sign up for the Masquerade or Junior entries, as we need to know numbers for the sweet surprises.

There will be some cosplay related programme items and workshops over the convention and on Saturday. Cosplayers can off course take part.

For questions, please email:  cosplay@easterconbelfast.org

Please remember that you have to also sign up to the convention. Follow this link and select “Cosplay” in the membership box:

Above all let’s have fun.

Best
