Do the rule changes at arXiv have an impact on HAL?
HAL has an agreement with arXiv to act as a trusted submission channel for authors affiliated with a French institution.
To cope with the influx of submissions, arXiv is evolving its policies: stricter rules for new contributors and requirements to provide an English translation for submissions written in a language other than English.
A new type of document can now be deposited in HAL: research protocols!
The HAL document typology now includes research protocols as a subtype of “Report.”
Integrated as a sub-type of Report, this development makes it possible to better acknowledge a form of scholarly output that plays a key structuring role in research projects and has so far been underrepresented in HAL. Depositing a protocol means making a methodological framework accessible, documenting a scientific approach, and contributing to the visibility and transparency of the work carried out.
To go further, don’t forget to link them to the associated publications: a simple way to enhance their discoverability and enrich their context!
