Showreels

Ndumiso Mnguni is a top South African colourist focused on emotional truth and cinematic restraint. His credits include Heart of the Hunter (the first African film to hit No. 1 globally on Netflix), GO!, and Kevin Costner Presents: The First Christmas. Alongside film and series, he’s also graded global brand commercials, bringing the same care to skin tone and light, and always chasing images that feel honest, not overworked.
Liam Traynor is a colourist shaped by work across the UK and South Africa, with a cinematic eye across commercials, film, and premium TV. His portfolio includes multiple Netflix No. 1 titles, plus projects for Prime Video and other global platforms. Now at The Refinery, he’s helped shape the look of Will Smith’s Beautiful Scars and define the visual identity of Baller League USA. Collaborative by nature, he pushes craft and technique in service of story.
Abdul Ghakeem Samaai is a Cape Town based DI colourist at The Refinery, known for a story-first approach and a strong sensitivity to performance, tone, and texture. He’s worked closely with S.A.S.C cinematographers Chris Lotz, Meekaaeel Adam, and Stephan Hambsch, and is currently grading an XYZ release for director Liam O’Donnell and DP John Radel. Credits include Carissa (Venice and Silwerskerm selections), Variations on a Theme (Rotterdam Tiger Award winner), Albie Sachs: A Strange Alchemy, and Soft Love (Prime Video), plus work in emerging formats including stereoscopic VR.
Kitso Monare is a DI colourist working across features, docs, music videos, and commercials. His credits include Lordkez’s “Aweh” feat. Cassper Nyovest (with millions of views), the feature Inguquko, the Kenyan Olympics docu-series Making Of A Star, and Nando’s UK Mix It Up (Vol. 4). His approach is built on visual intent and punch.
Johnny Tully is a senior colourist based in Soho at No.8, known for rich, cinematic imagery and a naturalistic eye. His credits include international campaigns for Adidas, Nike, Burberry and Ferrari, alongside acclaimed music and narrative work, making him a trusted creative partner for bold, premium visual storytelling. Through the creative partnership between The Refinery and No.8, Johnny also forms part of an expanded international offering that connects world-class colour talent across the UK and South Africa.
