Following on from my previous movie summaries, this is my February 2026 review. Overall, I watched 28 new movies this month, taking the total for the year to 59! This month was full of Oscar best picture nominations and some other good movies.
Following on from my previous movie summaries, this is my January 2026 review. Overall, I watched 31 new movies this month. January is usually a month full of stellar movies, as the awards season is starting. However, the movies I watched this month didn't reflect this.
I came across an issue with Laravel's custom maintenance mode and JSON content-negotiation, but I was able to fix it with the exception handler.
The web as a whole isn’t going back to lovingly hand-crafted sites. That world is gone. The factories won. But craft traditions didn’t disappear during the industrial revolution either. They just moved to the margins. Small workshops continued alongside the factories. That’s where the artisanal web lives now.
This feels like a first foray into what software development will look like for the rest of my life. Transitioning from the instrument player to the conductor of the orchestra. I can acknowledge that this is both incredibly exciting, and deeply terrifying.

I took a very similar ride to yesterday's Grimsby mountain bikers ride, but instead of my massive electric mountain bike, I took my spicy road bike.
The route was manageable, with two exceptions. I didn't manage the steep climb in the woods – gearing wasn't quite there. I also rode the off-camber singletrack trail, but severely lacked confidence – the position on the drops was scary, and it felt like my hands would bounce off on the hoods.
