Die Boulderhalle Dübendorf: A Showcase of Custom Design
Die Boulderhalle Dübendorf is a bouldering gym located in the town of Dübendorf, Switzerland, and it stands as one of the finest examples of Walltopia’s intricate custom climbing wall design. The project reflects a perfect balance between aesthetics, functionality, and safety, offering climbers a space that is both inspiring and practical.
The gym was built with natural wood panels crafted from the highest quality plywood, giving the walls a warm, organic look that blends seamlessly with the modern design of the facility. With 791 square meters of boulder walls, the space provides ample variety for climbers of all skill levels. To complement the main climbing area, a small training zone was added, featuring an adjustable training board designed to match the overall style of the gym. This thoughtful addition ensures that athletes can work on strength and technique in a dedicated environment.
Safety and comfort were also prioritized. Walltopia installed standard climbmat safety flooring in a light beige color, with a thickness of 30 centimeters. This flooring not only enhances the visual appeal of the gym but also provides reliable protection for climbers, ensuring that every fall is cushioned and secure.
Beyond the walls and flooring, Walltopia supplied the facility with an initial selection of climbing holds and macros, giving the gym a diverse range of shapes and textures to start with. These elements allow for creative route setting and ensure that climbers can enjoy a wide spectrum of challenges from the very beginning.
Die Boulderhalle Dübendorf is more than just a climbing gym—it is a testament to how thoughtful design and high‑quality materials can transform a space into a hub for community, fitness, and adventure.
