Frequently asked questions

  • You can use a bound document in so many different ways. Here are a few ideas on how to use bound documents to make life that much easier:

    • Business - Impress clients with perfectly presented presentations or uplift meeting minutes(opens in a new tab or window), reports, and proposals.
    • Training - Design helpful manuals and learning guides for your team.
    • Education - Dazzle with a professional thesis, or inspire learners with bound workbooks.
    • Freelancing - Create polished freelance proposals and portfolios to attract clients and customers.
  • Our bound documents are printed on regular notebook-sized paper. Exact measurements are 8.5 × 11 inches (21 × 29.7 cm).

  • Binding a document simply means sealing the pages together. There are a few ways that a document can be bound together, including comb binding, wire binding, saddle binding and perfect binding. It really depends on what the document is for as to which binding process is most suitable.

  • Five of the most common methods of binding include:

    • Perfect binding is where all pages are organized in ascending order, then the edges on one side are compressed together before being glued to a cover. You’ll commonly find this type of binding used for soft cover books.
    • Case binding is your classic bookbinding finish, where pages are sewn together before being glued to each cover side. It’s commonly used as the go-to binding type on hardcover books.
    • Saddle stitch binding involves stapling pages together before adding the cover along the line of the spine to finish. It’s cost-effective and ideal for anything from brochures to magazines.
    • Coil binding is where a loop made of plastic or wire runs up and down the spine of gathered pages through pierced holes. It’s often used with workbooks or notepads, as it’s easy to add or remove pages.
    • Comb binding involves a long plastic comb holding together pages through punctured holes, instead of a metal or plastic spiral. Comb binding is commonly used for manuals.

  • We offer a range of online printing services so you can stay on brand effortlessly. We offer bound document printing (wire-bound), as well as photo book printing, notebook printing, business card printing, and many other print product printing services.

  • That’s a great question! It’s easy to get confused between them, although it’s just as easy to tell the difference. Spiral binding uses plastic coil binding, whereas wire binding uses metal wire to bind the pages together. Both are great options for bound documents.

  • We offer standard and premium paper, so it depends on what you’re using your document for and what will work best. Standard paper is easily an everyday kind of paper, so if you’re printing bulk manuals, reports, workbooks, or bulk documents, this is likely the best paper for you. However, if you’re printing a presentation, portfolio, thesis, proposal, or report, the premium paper stock option will uplift your document and offer a better finish for you.

  • The One Print, One Tree initiative is just one of the ways we are making our printing solutions more sustainable, as part of doing the most good that we can through our Two-Step Plan(opens in a new tab or window).
