Creating a design you love will make using your notebook that much more enjoyable! Our top tips for getting that design right include:

• Keeping the design simple and the colors on-brand, if it’s for work.
• Involving younger children in the design process for a fun activity. Encourage them to select a template they love, add graphics they like, and use their favorite colors.
• Researching design trends or browsing our library of templates to get inspired.
• Identifying the purpose of the notebook, so you can adjust the design according to its use.
• Keeping all text simple and not overusing font types or too many colors.

There are many fun ways to customize your notebook on Canva, like:

• Uploading your photos and adding them to the notebook cover design. A collage would look great, too.
• Uploading your illustrations, monogram, or logo and putting them on the notebook cover. You can also search our media library for icons that reflect your hobbies and personality.
• Adding your name to the notebook cover design and applying a nice font.
• Putting a personal or motivational quote or adding a fun notebook title.

All notebooks come with a soft touch cover finish that’s shine-free and velvety smooth to the touch. It makes photos and colors appear softer and offers some protection against rubbing and staining—a win when you’re storing them in your bag for the day!

The inner pages of our notebooks are made from FSC-certified, high PCW (post-consumer waste) recycled paper to make sure every notebook is as eco-friendly as possible. The hard cover notebooks are made from sterling gloss paper, while soft cover notebooks are made from Tango Cover C2S paper stock with 16pt thickness and 330g (11.6 oz) of weight.

The big difference is the space between each line. 

College-ruled sheets have smaller interline gaps of about 9/32nd of an inch (7.1mm) and are great for older students or working professionals.

Wide-ruled paper, on the other hand, comes with large gaps between the individual lines and in general—these are around 11/32nds of an inch (8.7mm approx) or wider. This style of paper is great for elementary school children and teachers, as it’s far easier for little hands learning to write.

Soft Cover notebooks:

A journal and a diary are very similar, so the words are often used interchangeably. Both record daily events, memories, plans, and schedules. However, a diary tends to be more personal, whereas a journal tends to be less personal. Whether you need a journal or diary, you can create a customized notebook for your needs on Canva.

All our notebooks are recyclable, but it’s important to ensure you separate the pages from the wire binding when recycling.
