Description

Neo Cab is a visual novel about emotional survival in an automated world.

You play as Lina, the last human cab driver. It’s your very first night driving the lonely streets of Los Ojos, and your best friend has just disappeared.

Is she in grave danger... or just the flakiest friend ever? Either way, now you need to find cash, a place to crash, and some answers.

Your only leads are the diverse cast of characters you pick up in your cab, but getting them to open up isn’t always easy. The anarchist punks don’t trust you, the corporate yuppies don’t see you, and the cops won’t leave you alone. But if you can balance honesty, empathy, and your own emotional health, you might just learn their secrets.

Can you survive late-stage capitalism long enough to save your friend?

STAY ON THE ROAD. STAY ON THE SEARCH. STAY HUMAN.

Nice visual novel

I quite enjoyed that one, even though it felt a bit short, but hey i got it on promo so for the 4 and half hours i played it was good value. The graphics are lean, the ui slick and the storyline rather interesting. Your progress is autosaved so no need to worry about saving the game, the only thing i regret here is that there's no rollback to reread a line of dialogue that went by a bit to fast, but that's a minor complaint really. All in a a good game.

Good game, recommended

I had a good time playing this game. It's nice and contained, delivers on what it promises. There's not much traditional "action" as such but you see the impact of your choices. My only real gripe about it is that from time to time some of the conversation lines linger and you're stuck just looking at the screen for a bit.

emotionally unrewarding

Without spoiling the game, I finished it and was upset with how the ending went. I looked up different endings hoping to find a better one thinking I messed up somewhere just to find out I had experienced the "good" one.

Good cab sim

Pretty good story with characters whose attitudes are definitely accurate for a variety of archetypes. Some are annoying and so are the dialog options sometimes, but that lessened for me as the game went on. It's worth mentioning since everything is so politicized these days, and some particularly sensitive people likely won't be able to move past that here (as can be seen in some reviews). Personally I don't require games to perfectly reflect what *I* would say or do in every situation, as that would be ridiculous. The story can hold its own so that makes it worthwhile to me & for a couple bucks it's totally worth it. I think they missed a few ways to improve the game experience technically, but nothing critical. Incidentally this was released the same year as Night Call, another cab simulator which has more of a noir vibe vs the colorful cyberpunk setting here. The format is almost identical. Guess 2019 was the year for cab sims. Topically, it feels like this could have come out within the last year. I particularly enjoy how they explore several mini-stories mostly unrelated to the main narrative, which cab games have the perfect setup for. Side note: for being set in "Los Ojos" and having Spanish words scattered throughout even in the English translation, the Spanish translation is surprisingly bad. I play in Spanish whenever it's available, and this is one of the only games I've played where I actually couldn't stand it & switched to English. And they obviously should have gone with LATAM Spanish, which would have made much more sense thematically.
