We are thrilled to announce that our collaboration with IRPD is continuing within the project ASTERIA. During our previous focus project HEPHAESTUS, IRPD supported us within our ongoing collaboration by 3D printing our rocket engines from Inconel 718 using Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF). The LPBF process enables the manufacturing of the complex and thin-walled cooling channels required to keep the combustion chamber within safe temperature limits during operation. During our latest visit to IRPD, we had the chance to thank the team personally and brought along a special exhibit: the Mk-IV test engine, which was pushed beyond its limits during a propulsion test, exposing its internal cooling channels. IRPD’s machines open new possibilities in rocket engine design, geometries that were once impossible to manufacture are now becoming reality. A big thank you to the entire IRPD team for supporting our propulsion development. #irpd #unitedmachining #AdditiveManufacturing #LPBF #Inconel718 #rocketengine #EuRoC26.
