Designed a new map style for our upcoming project, focusing on both visual clarity and storytelling. For the base map and terrain, we used MapTiler to achieve a clean, detailed look that works well for documentary-style content. The goal was to balance realism with readability, so the map remains visually appealing without overwhelming the viewer. For the grid system and overall animation design, everything was built and refined in After Effects. This allowed us to have full control over styling, spacing, and motion, ensuring the grid integrates smoothly with the map rather than feeling like an overlay. This combination helps create a more immersive and structured visual experience, especially for content that relies heavily on geography and data. Would love to hear your thoughts on the grid design and overall style. #maptiler #mapbox #geolayers3 #createnew #mapdesign #documentary #motiongraphics

  • Meet Petr, our CTO and one of the original minds behind MapTiler’s journey. From early experiments in map visualization to shaping our technology and strategy today, his #lifeatmaptiler story is one of growth and innovation. 🗺️🚀 "I've been involved with MapTiler since the very beginning. I started working with the CEO in 2010 during my university Informatics studies, exploring new and innovative ways to visualize maps using the cutting-edge technologies available at that time. Over the years, my position shifted from front-end visualization to back-end development, all the way to designing high-performance globally distributed systems. As I gained experience, I naturally became more involved in management and decision processes, eventually joining the board as CTO. Today, as MapTiler has grown to include dedicated business and product people, I get to enjoy focusing on cross-team technological oversight, innovation, and R&D projects. It's been an incredible journey to see the company grow from a three-person operation to an organization with multiple teams and over 70 people; to witness all the iterations of our internal processes from contract-based development to maintaining a stable set of products, each with its own roadmap and strategy. In my free time, I like to clear my mind by being outside - whether it's hiking, cycling, or enjoying the suffering of training for my next running race. This fits really nicely with the time flexibility that is deeply rooted in the MapTiler culture."

    Online/Offline Maps | MapTiler

The world is changing - is your map keeping up? 🌍 🛰️ Who can recognize which city is in the picture? This month, MapTiler is bringing a massive refresh to our satellite layer with 2024/2025 imagery. It’s amazing to see how much detail you can capture when you’re pushing for 12.5cm resolution. 💥 A Huge Satellite Refresh: We’ve added fresh, high-res aerial imagery for Denmark, Finland, and five U.S. states (including CA and WA). 💥 Professional Grid Lines: You can now add atlas-style grids, time zones, and lines like the Equator or the Arctic Circle with zero coding. It gives maps that "authoritative" look I’ve always loved in old-school navigation charts. It’s about making the digital world look as sharp and structured as the real one. 🌍 ✨ 💣 Check it out - link in the comment. Have a lovely Friday!

  • "Be innovative" is more than a value at MapTiler, it’s our way of being. Innovation for us means constantly finding more effective ways to work. By automating internal workflows, continuously educating ourselves on new tech, and sharing know-how across the company, we can focus entirely on what matters most: building high-performance mapping tools. The same innovative DNA that drives our internal growth also shows in our latest releases: 📍GeoSplats: Our new LoD technology allows you to render photorealistic 3D models using only 0.2% of the original data, making high-end visualization possible even on mobile. 📍Georeferencer: We’ve simplified complex GIS workflows, allowing anyone to transform images into spatial data with just a few clicks. We are building the future of mapping by staying innovative inside and out. 🗺️🚀
