#ClaudeCode doesn't know the best way to upgrade Rails... so the team at FastRuby.io taught it with a set of #OpenSource skills! 🚀 For more than 8 years, our teams at OmbuLabs.ai and FastRuby.io have been publishing detailed guides on how to upgrade Rails applications. We have documented every minor version from Rails 2.3 through 8.1 in our Rails Upgrade Series and distilled our methodology into an ebook: The Complete Guide to Upgrade Rails 📚 All of that knowledge comes from more than 60,000 developer-hours of hands-on upgrade work for companies of all sizes, from solo-founded SaaS products to huge Rails monoliths running at Fortune 500 public companies. Last week we made the FastRuby.io methodology available to everyone as an open source Claude Code Skill: https://lnkd.in/eFx3AYnX #OSS #ClaudeSkills #GenAI #Claude #TechnicalDebt .
Claude Code doesn't know the best way to upgrade Rails... so we taught it with a set of open source skills! 🚀 On Wednesday I had the opportunity to present these skills at the Artificial Ruby Meetup in NYC. I shared a quick demo of three #OpenSource Claude Code skills that we just released: 1. Rails Upgrade Skill: https://lnkd.in/eQa9KFjZ 2. Dual Boot Skill: https://lnkd.in/ebQkpCtb 3. Rails Load Defaults Skill: https://lnkd.in/ewkZWwHA These skills are a great example of the intersection between the work we do at OmbuLabs.ai and FastRuby.io: We took AI tooling and combined it with deep domain expertise in Ruby and Rails upgrades. Here's the thing: Claude Code on its own will take shortcuts. It will skip versions. It won't dual boot. It won't match your `load_defaults` to your Rails version. These are mistakes that cause real problems in production. Some of these decisions are judgment calls that should be done by a human. Our methodology has been tested on real client applications where we've invested more than 60,000 dev/hours upgrading Rails. Now anyone using Claude Code can follow that same battle-tested approach... for free! If you're using #Rails, I invite you to give these skills a try. Report issues on the GitHub repos, or send me a DM if you have questions about how to leverage them for your upgrade. Huge thanks to Scott Werner from Sublayer for organizing the Artificial Ruby meetup and pushing AI in Ruby forward. #RubyOnRails #ClaudeCode #AI #OpenSource #ClaudeSkills #TechDebt
