  • We've been asking for your support in the #PyOhiothon #fundraiser, but some people might wonder why we need help with funding. It's only fair to let you know some of the costs facing #PyOhio and how we use the donations. So let's break it down. TL;DR - running even a small conference is REALLY expensive. Help us out by donating and spreading the word! https://lnkd.in/gxkXbw6M First, what we do NOT use the donations on - none of our organizers at PyOhio are paid for their work, which lasts all year in some form or another. We are all volunteers, and we want the funds to go right back to the community, so we use it on the expenses for the event. 🏢 Venue costs PyOhio currently hosts at the Cleveland State University Student Center, which offers *extremely generous* rates to us to use their facilities: Event space rental (including A/V for mics, speakers, projectors, etc): $6474.60 ☕️ Venue options (approx). We can provide these if sponsors are able to cover the costs. Coffee Service: $3000 / day Breakfast snacks: $4000 / day 💻️ Yearly organizing costs (approx) IT Costs (domain, email, newsletter services, etc): $1000 Logo design: $500 PSF Fees (as a fiscal sponsoree) PSF Admin Fee: $1500 🪧 Event Operations costs (approx) Event Insurance: $400 Badges: $250 Signage: $200 Office supplies: $200 Printed Program: $600 Stickers: $250 🎥 Videography services Recording, editing, and posting talks to YouTube. We can provide this via a Platinum Sponsorship level if we get a sponsor: ~$17,000 This list isn't comprehensive, and doesn't include assistance we've been able to provide to speakers in the past, but hopefully it gives some idea of the challenges we can face running an event like PyOhio. We rely on fundraising to cover these costs, so please continue to support us! 🙏

  • There's only a few days left to submit your talk proposal for our #PyOhio 2026 #CFP, but we had a thought - maybe some of you are stuck looking for inspiration for a topic? So, in order to help you out, we decided to share a few potential talk ideas. If anyone who already submitted their proposals has some inspiration to share as well, please let us know! Feel free to use any of these to submit your proposals before the end of the day on April 19th, AoE: https://lnkd.in/eGf-VxBF "How I Survived the Alaskan Wilderness With Only a Canteen, a Knife, and the Python Interpreter" "Python Binary Searches: A Talk in Two Parts" "Which Is the Most Pythonic Flavor of Ice Cream?" • Announcing the first annual PyOhiothon! 🎉 🎉 #PyOhio needs YOUR help to continue offering a free-to-attend annual regional conference! So, what's a PyOhiothon? Today, we're launching a community fundraising campaign that we'll be running for the next few weeks in support of PyOhio. We're looking for help in three major ways: 1. Individual supporters: Anyone who can donate any amount! Every little bit helps keep PyOhio running for another year! 💜 2. Matching Sponsors: We'd love to have individual sponsors who are willing to match donations up to a certain dollar amount. Let's make all those individual supporters donations go even further! 🚀 3. Spread the word! If you can help us reach more of our community, the fundraiser will be that much more effective! 📣 If you'd like to donate to PyOhio, you can do so through the PSF donation page here: https://lnkd.in/gxkXbw6M If you'd like to offer to match donations, please reach out to our Sponsorship team at sponsorship (at) pyohio.org #Python #Conference #Fundraiser

  • In case you aren't subscribed to our volunteer newsletter, #PyOhio is looking for volunteers to help review talks after the close of our #CFP on April 19, AoE. We need YOUR help to finish reviews within a week after the closing date so we can let our speakers know quickly! If you want to #volunteer, email us at program (at) pyohio.org today! Reminder: The CFP is still open, and you can submit a talk even if you're volunteering to review others! https://lnkd.in/eGf-VxBF #Python #Conference

  • We work hard organizing #PyOhio, but we wouldn't have much to talk about without our speakers! Come share your ideas with us: https://lnkd.in/eGf-VxBF If the 30 minute time block seems intimidating, or you've never spoken at a conference before, consider joining our Discord - there's a 2026 #CFP channel to help provide support and guidance through the submission process!
