A 2+ year book project documenting 15 years of Journal, an annual publication profiling the work and thinking of architectural practise Bates Smart.

Preston is a custom typeface designed in collaboration with Vincent Chan (Matter of Sorts) for the Art Gallery of NSW visual identity. Completed at Mucho with Jeremy Matthews, Luke Robertson and the AGNSW Creative Studio.

A reimagining of a 2009 Hofstede Design project, this acrylic stencil was created as a gift for Counter Forms members. Original design: The Type Tablet (concept by Dominic Hofstede & Wendy Ellerton).



A simulated image overlaying Australia Post’s 2019 identity onto Huveneers Pty Ltd’s 1975 guidelines. The refreshed system drew inspiration from the original, replacing a fragmented identity with one that is cohesive, confident and enduring. Completed while Creative Director at MAUD with a core design team comprising Owen Cramp, Daniel Flynn, Tal Levin, Tomas Sabbatucci, Richard Smalley & Sam Turner. 

A catalogue documenting Graphic Identities, an exhibition that explored the role of visual communication in shaping contemporary Australian culture. Dominic Hofstede acted as a consultant for Graphic Identities, working closely with Senior Curator Keinton Butler and the Powerhouse exhibition team. Completed at Mucho.

Logotype, typographic palette and art direction for Cullen Jewellery, part of a visual identity uplift project. Designed with Aden Ure and Cullen’s inhouse team.

Wunderkabinet (German for ‘cabinet of wonders’) is a small showcase of curios and objects broadly related to graphic design, a studio project initiated by Typographic Services. Designed with Aden Ure.

Graphic Identities was an exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum featuring work from eight influential designers, exploring the role of visual communication in shaping contemporary Australian culture. Omère is a longevity institute innovating a new era of health through personalized programs that prevent disease and extend life. Completed at Mucho.

A launch poster/brochure for an exhibition of iconic Australian designer Les Mason’s work for Epicurean magazine. 

Designed to transport Robata’s patrons to the streets of a Japanese super-city in the manner of the iconic 1982 movie Bladerunner, the lightboxes also act as wayfinding signage for passers-by. Completed at Mucho.

AP Text and AP Display were developed with Vincent Chan (Matter of Sorts) to meet the increasingly diverse needs of Australia Post. Completed as part of an identity refresh with MAUD (core design team: Owen Cramp, Daniel Flynn, Tal Levin, Tomas Sabbatucci, Richard Smalley & Sam Turner).

Antara 128 is an avant-garde bakery and restaurant located in Melbourne. Designed with John Szetho at Mucho.

An A3 type specimen produced for the launch of the Recollection typeface. Designed by Dominic Hofstede and Vincent Chan (Matter of Sorts), the fonts attempt to capture the spirit of Australian graphic design between 1960–1990. 

One of seven unique brands developed under the theme of Zero Waste Beauty, paired with a sustainable label material. Completed at Mucho.

An online archive of Australian graphic design, with a focus on work created between the years 1960–1990. Initiated as a personal project by Dominic Hofstede in 2009, collaborators have included Vincent Chan, Paul Mylecharane and Warren Taylor.
