    Site Owner: Kai Wen

    Multisite Network Root: https://kaiwen.com

    Subsite (Working via subdomain): https://bloomcycles.kaiwen.com

Subsite (Mapped custom domain): https://bloomcycles.com (NOT working correctly)✅ What’s Working

    • The Multisite network is installed correctly on kaiwen.com.
    • The subsite bloomcycles.kaiwen.com works perfectly, including dashboard access and styling.
    • The domain bloomcycles.com is added in cPanel and points to the correct document root (/public_html).
    • The subsite has been mapped to bloomcycles.com via the Network Admin’s Site Address (URL) field.
    • DNS is properly configured and SSL is active.

    ❌ What’s Not Working

    • When visiting https://bloomcycles.com/wp-admin, the page loads without CSS or JS, showing a broken admin screen.
    • Attempting to access the dashboard via bloomcycles.com results in 404 errors or redirects to a signup page.
    • The only way to manage the site currently is to temporarily change the subsite’s domain back to bloomcycles.kaiwen.com in Network Admin.
    • Even after saving permalinks, flushing rewrite rules, and updating config files, WordPress is not consistently treating bloomcycles.com as a valid mapped domain.

    ✅ What’s Already Been Tried

    • Updated the subsite domain in Network Admin.
    • Updated .htaccess and wp-config.php to support Multisite + HTTPS + dynamic cookies.
    • Saved Permalinks from the subsite dashboard.
    • Cleared all caches (browser, plugin, server).
    • Ensured all domains share the same root folder.
    • Ran a dry-run domain replacement via Better Search Replace plugin (did not fully fix it).
    • Confirmed SSL is installed and HTTPS is enforced.

    🔧 Likely Cause

WordPress Multisite appears to still associate the subsite with the original subdomain (bloomcycles.kaiwen.com) and is not fully recognizing bloomcycles.com as the new domain — causing asset routing, admin login, and cookie/session issues.

Would love any help anyone can provide me with! I am almost there but this issue is stopping me.

  • Hi @kaiwenf, I don’t have a definitive answer for you, but I’ll try since no one else has yet.

First, I would check if the things you think are setup correctly and working are actually setup and working. DNS or mapping seems like a possible culprit from reading your description of the errors.

Second, check for silly things like spelling errors and get rid of extra stuff you tried that didn’t work – I don’t think you need to edit .htaccess, for example.

Sorry I can’t be more helpful, it does sound like you’re close, and clearly something you think is setup correctly isn’t. If you want to add screenshots of the relevant DNS records, network mapping, or other that may help me or someone else pinpoint the issue.

    Best of luck.

Hi @dillonlanier Thank you so much for the reply. I am still trying to figure out the problem. The only problem I am having is when I change the domain from “bloomcycles.kaiwen.com” to “bloom cycles.com” then the ability to mange “bloomcycles.com” with the “Dashboard” is not possible. If I can the domain back to “bloomcycles.kaiwen.com” from “bloomcycles.com” then the Dashboard ability is back and working for the site gain. The website comes up with no problem with either domain. I just loose the ability to manage use the “Dashboard” on the site when renamed to bloom cycles.com”

@dillonlanier I can see that the link is correct for the “Dashboard” screen when I look at the code behind.

@dillonlanier I got my problem fix. What I ended up doing was when I changed the domain to my main domain that I needed once I went to that screen where the dashboard was supposed to show I was able to get a login screen and I logged in with the same username and password as my main WordPress site and from that point forward now I can get to the dashboard for both of my WordPress sites now.

I recently faced a similar issue with my multisite domain mapping, where the custom domain admin dashboard wasn’t loading properly. To resolve this, you’ll need to double-check your DNS configuration and server settings to ensure the A record and subdomains are mapped correctly. If you’re using a .htaccess file, make sure it includes the appropriate rules for your multisite setup. Caching issues can also cause this, so clearing both your browser and server cache might help. If the problem persists, try temporarily deactivating plugins to identify any potential conflicts. For anyone looking to improve their online presence.
