Set up CrawlChat
CrawlChat answers questions using your documentation, files, and connected sources. Add your knowledge once, then make the agent available on your website, in Slack or Discord, or through an API or MCP client.
New to CrawlChat? Start with the quickstart to create an agent, import your first source, test an answer, and connect a channel.

How the pieces fit together
An agent brings together a knowledge base, answer settings, and integrations. Select the correct agent in the dashboard before changing its sources or settings.
A knowledge group connects one source, such as a documentation website or a set of uploaded files. An agent can use multiple groups. For sources that import pages, syncing fetches and processes the content so the agent can search it when answering. Creating a group is not the same as finishing its sync.
A channel is where someone asks a question: the website widget, Discord, Slack, GitHub, or an API integration. Channels use the agent's knowledge; some settings, such as model overrides, can differ by channel.
An agent can have multiple Slack workspaces, Discord servers, and GitHub repositories connected at once. Each connection has its own bot settings, while using the same agent knowledge. Choose the connection in Workspace settings or Repository settings before editing it.
Your workspace owns agents and manages billing and membership. Agent visibility and channel access determine who can use the knowledge you connect.
From setup to launch
- Add knowledge. Import a focused source and inspect the resulting pages.
- Configure answers. Set the agent's instructions, model, and visibility.
- Test. Ask real questions and check the answer and its citations.
- Connect a channel. Test again where your users will ask questions.
- Improve. Review Questions, failed sources, and Data gaps after launch.
Use the launch checklist before inviting users.
