Overview of Devolutions Gateway

Devolutions Gateway provides authorized just-in-time access to resources in segmented networks.

When a user needs to securely access an endpoint, they launch their session either through Remote Desktop Manager (desktop application) or through the clientless, browser-based launcher — both backed by a Devolutions Server or Devolutions Cloud workspace. The client connects to a Devolutions Gateway instance, which grants just-in-time network access to the target endpoint. Multiple Devolutions Gateway instances can be deployed, each providing access to a different segmented network of remote endpoints.

Key benefits of Devolutions Gateway include:

  • Reduced exposure to internal network resources with just-in-time RDP connections through the Devolutions Gateway.

  • Replaced static VPN and firewall rules with dynamic access rules controlled by Devolutions Server.

  • Enhanced security by giving remote access, or access to specific applications, in separate network segments on demand.

  • Improved productivity by eliminating the need to update VPN or firewall rules for temporary access.

  • Possible use of Devolutions Gateway with supported connection entry types (RDP, SSH, VNC, ARD, SCP, SFTP, PowerShell, Telnet, websites) in Remote Desktop Manager and supported workspaces (Devolutions Server, Devolutions Cloud).

  • Increased scalability by eliminating the need to use multiple VPNs to access many environments simultaneously. Devolutions Gateway can handle over 75 concurrent sessions, depending on the infrastructure.

  • Enforced role-based access controls for both internal and external users.

  • Clientless, browser-based access for users without Remote Desktop Manager installed.

  • Detailed audit logging and session recording for live auditing and compliance.
