Kumusta? My name is Kush (she/her), I’m an independent filmmaker, occasional blogger, sometimes a photographer, and most of the time a video editor based in Cebu City, Philippines. Outside of work, I am a self-proclaimed serial hobbyist. Recently, I’ve taken a great interest in brewing coffee at home. I put a lot of time and effort into writing coffee reviews, and I’m working on transferring those to this blog, so please be patient. I love photography as well, and I try to publish my photos online, though I am generally shy about doing this. On any given day, I watch one or two movies.

I am fascinated by technology, especially ethical and useful technologies. I enjoy tinkering with the Internet. I spend most of my time these days thinking about the web — how it works, how it’s changing, and how we can make it a better place. The World Wide Web has always fascinated me. I feel as though I grew up on the Internet, and that it has taught me a lot of what I know. Technology has often found ways to pull me into new hobbies like making websites. I’ve made lots of websites that I forgot most of them.

Tools I Use

Hardware: General

• 16" MacBook Pro: A powerhuse. Configured with Apple M1 Max, 64GB of unified memory and 4TB SSD.
• Apple Studio Display: As my monitor and I don’t have any complaints.
• Keychron Q1 Knob QMK: I slightly got into mechanical keyboards and I’m still thinking if I should have another hobby as an excuse for a TGR Jane.

Hardware: Audio

• ATHM40x: I love these headphones for editing.
• Bose QC35II: I’ve had the Bose for 7 years now and I love the noise cancelling I get from these. Battery and connection isn’t that great but they work perfectly when I need them especially on flights.

Hardware: Camera

• Leica M10-R: As my main body.
• Summilux 35mm f/1.4 as my main lens (probably my only lens).
• Sony A7RII: For video and sometimes photo. But currently using it as my webcam.
• Sony A6000: My first intro to Sony’s α series camera. I got this when I had my Banana Pancake Trail way back in 2017 — very lightweight and portable.
• Sony 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OSS: This was included with the A6000 as a kit. I use it at my webcam lens.
• Sony FE 24-240mm f/3.5-6.3 OSS: Great zoom lens that isn’t too expensive and relatively light.

Hardware: Storage

• Samsung T7 1TB: SSD for work and projects.
• WD Elements 14TB: HDD for archiving.

I use a lot of applications and software to increase my productivity both at work and in my personal life.

Software: General

• Raycast: Another Spotlight replacement, but blazingly fast. A must-have.
• Things: As a task manager.
• Fantastical - I’m back to using Fantastical because it just works! Yes, I still have a love/hate relationship with calendars.
• Spark and Apple Mail: I have this love/hate relationship with emails so I can’t choose one.
• Zen Browser: My primary browser for desktop.
• I switch between Safari and Arc as my secondary browser.
• NetNewsWire: I read a lot of RSS feeds everyday and this is the perfect one for me.
• Ice: For organizing utility apps on the menu bar (free version).
• Dropzone: Such a handy little app for moving and copying files to different folders.
• Maccy: My clipboard manager.
• Shottr: Screenshot tool.
• Tot: My very handy text companion.
• ImageOptim: Makes my images load faster.

Software: Writing

• Notion: For project management.
• Obsidian: Most of my writing live here.

Software: Development

• Visual Studio Code: Code-editor of choice.
• Sublime Text: For testing and drafting code.
• GitHub Desktop: To interact better with GitHub through a GUI.
• iTerm: Terminal of choice.

Software: Photography & Design

• Capture One: For photo editing.
• Figma: For interface design. And light graphic design.

Software: Editing

• Adobe Creative Cloud: Specifically Premiere Pro and After Effects for video editing.
• AppleScript Editor: For automatically creating folders when new projects come in.
• Transmit: For transferring files between cloud services.
• DaVinci Resolve: For editing and color grading personal projects.
• HandBrake: For converting and encoding videos.
• ScreenFlow: For creating tutorials, workflows, and walkthroughs.
• PluralEyes4: For seamless audio and video syncing.
• Keka and The Unarchiver: For file archiving/compression.

These are only a few of the many applications I regularly use for work and personal use, and I find them to be instrumental in my productivity and efficiency.
