Something is awry
when the sky
is falling
the sky is falling
because we want it
to be bright
perhaps the heat
collapsing upon us now
is calling upon
our inner heat
The beds of coal
of our culture
that we have
forgotten we walk upon
our feet are burnt
and ashen
and yet we wonder
why our roots,
where we sit and stand,
bring no nutrient
the sky is falling
precisely because we are
falling not in love
but in collapse
As Bayo Akomolafe once said: "We often speak about getting lost in the dark, but it is also possible to get lost in light. ... Name the color, blind the eye."
