Yuusha Idle

Yuusha Idle is a browser idle RPG about one hero and the long road that turns them into a legend. You pick a class, send them out to hunt, and the fights play out on their own. They keep playing out while you're asleep, at work or away for a week, so there's always loot, gold and a fatter XP bar waiting when you come back. Where you come in is everything around the fight. There are thirteen classes and each one runs on its own resource. Rage builds up as a fight drags on, so your barbarian starts slow and ends terrifying. Energy burns bright and then needs a breather. Mana pays for the big spells. Two heroes at the same level in the same gear can feel completely different, and figuring out where your class shines is half the fun. Nine zones wait to be unlocked, each with its own monsters, its own drop table and a full equipment set worth chasing. Spend talent points, build a skill loadout, juggle cooldowns, hunt for rarities, and watch your damage per second climb every single session. There's a whole world humming along next to the combat. Send your hero mining, gathering herbs and cutting wood, then turn all of it into a village you raise one building at a time. Craft your own gear or trade it on a player-run auction house. Take guild contracts for gold, climb the adventurer ranks and pass the exams that open up the hard stuff. Team up for co-op raid bosses where every member of the party gets their own private share of the loot. Collect monster cards from your kills and bring them into dungeons. And when the idle life stops being enough, there's the Abyss: a descent into the dark where the automation drops away and you call every move yourself, one action at a time, as deep as you dare go before it takes you. Free to play, no pay-to-win, built for your phone and just as happy on a desktop. Grab a class and see how far your hero gets. https://discord.gg/dZmMxSqXP

Swaggerfall

Swaggerfall is a first-person open world fantasy RPG that plays in the terminal. The graphics are ascii based and limited to what the command line offers (luckily this includes background colors for text glyphs). Despite the retro look and procedural generation à la Daggerfall, the game draws a lot of inspiration from modern games like Skyrim (UX) and Expedition 33 (turn based combat with quick time events). You only need a handful of keys to control the game. The E key alone has dozens of meanings based on the current context. TAB brings up an action menu that lets you enter all screens the game has to offer, and also lists their keybinds (if you're more the piano type). Every action grants xp: Sprinting, Jumping, Climbing, Mining, Smelting, Cooking... even Eating. Fighting enemies will not only grant xp in the skills you use, but will also teach you more about the enemy race, which makes combat easier and opens up more interactions (e.g. if you fought enough of an enemy type, you can tell them to leave you alone). Be the source of rumors. As you act in the world, rumors spread through the world at a fixed speed. "Did you hear about the stranger who slayed an army of minotaurs? Some say it was just a group of catgirls." The game is currently in Alpha status and will take another 6-12 months of development to reach a 1.0 release. However it is a coherent playable experience already. By buying it on itch you will get access to all future builds.
