REACT - Powering Smarter Network Planning MapStand, Olsights and SSEN Transmission have been jointly developing REACT - a tool built to support understanding of grid constraints, prioritise schemes and plan future capacity across the transmission network. At the Energy Networks Association (ENA) the team presented two key use cases developed during the project: Areal Viability & Risked Capacity • What schemes are likely to progress and what are the key risks. • How much capacity is likely to become operational in a given area. Substation Capacity Build-up vs Rating • Visualise how new connections impact substation capacity. • Identify when transformer limits could be reached. REACT will be rolled out across Great Britain later this month, marking an important milestone for the project as we continue our work to support energy system planning for 2035 and beyond. About us
MapStand provide spatial intelligence, data and project tracking for energy transition projects. Energy transition will require integration of existing and new energy systems both off and onshore including the conversion of existing assets and operations to low carbon alternatives. MapStand track power generation, power transmission, industrial emissions, hydrogen production and existing oil and gas infrastructure. Together these datasets enable our customers to unpick the complexities and opportunities available in Energy Transition

REACT – Supporting Smarter Planning and Faster Grid Connections After a successful two-year innovation project with SSEN Transmission and other network operators in the North of Scotland, MapStand and Olsights are excited to announce the next major milestone: the GB-wide release of REACT – the Rapid Evaluation Areal Connection Tool. REACT is a digital planning tool that combines spatial analysis with development and connection intelligence to give energy developers and network operators rapid clarity on project viability and connection constraints. The new GB-wide release enhances these capabilities to help navigate connection reform and CP30 with confidence - reducing uncertainty early in the development cycle. With REACT users can: • Understand cumulative capacity, constraints, congestion, and competition • Explore connectivity between generation/storage projects and substations plus connection sequence • Visualise demand and generation hotspots across Great Britain broken down into network and planning zones • Reveal area risks and opportunities to streamline the connection journey and improve project viability assessments The first GB-wide version will be available by the end of November. We’re inviting energy developers and development partners to help shape the next phase. Early-adopter partners will benefit from: • Full access to the tool • Preferential commercial rates • Direct influence on new features designed around real development workflows To express interest or request a live demonstration, please complete our short form: https://hubs.la/Q03TbMdW0 Or contact: francis@mapstand.com or tony@olsights.com Francis Cram Tony Griffiths Rosie Griffiths Emmanuel S. MapStand attended the Esri European Energy Resource GIS Conference in London this week! It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with customers and companies from across the globe to explore how the energy sector is using spatial data to shape the future. We were particularly impressed by Esri’s innovative approach to handling large-scale data and their growing investment in AI for the energy sector. One key takeaway: AI is only as powerful as the metadata behind it! A huge thank you to Esri and all the attendees for an inspiring few days of collaboration and insight. #GIS #EnergyData #ArtificialIntelligence #SpatialData Greg Miller Sharon Mwanzia Ali Awad
