BC’ leads climate innovation, and PICS is supporting that vital work through $1.15 million in new funding to research this fall. 🍂 Through PICS’ Climate Foresight, Policy Spark, and World Weaving programs, 14 research teams connected to our partner universities are advancing work on some of the province’s most pressing and emerging climate challenges. The funded projects explore topics including wildfire resilience, watershed restoration, clean technology adoption, climate-health connections, critical minerals, emerging climate risks, and First Nations-led research. Together, they demonstrate how research partnerships can generate practical insights, inform policy, and support climate action grounded in community priorities. The University of Victoria is a nexus for climate leadership and innovation in Canada — and PICS is delighted to support that vital work with more than $800,000 in awards this fall to eight research teams connected to UVic. This work reflects the breadth of research we’re proud to support across B.C., connecting academic expertise with emerging climate challenges, policy needs, and community priorities.
