Exchange Alumni: Resources & Opportunities

Alumni - group of people gathered together

There are currently more than 6,000 Department of State exchange program alumni working in various public and private sectors throughout Bangladesh. Alumni-led organizations have played a vital role in shaping the country’s civil society movements and contributing to its economic growth. The most notable U.S. exchange alumni is Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who participated in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) in 1958.

U.S. government exchange alumni have free access to American Spaces in Bangladesh, including the Edward M. Kennedy (EMK) Center for Public Service and the Arts in Dhaka.  Additionally, alumni are eligible for regular funding opportunities and can participate in the annual Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF) global competition. The embassy also regularly invites alumni to events and programs to expand their knowledge and provide networking opportunities.

Join the Exchange Alumni community portal and open the door to a world of resources and funding opportunities to help you build on the skills you gained during your exchange program:

  • Access academic journals and articles through EBSCO, JSTOR, and Libby, among other academic and research resources through eLibraryUSA (make sure to first visit an American Space in your region to set up an account).
  • Find and connect with fellow Exchange Alumni locally and globally.
  • Collaborate in group discussions, search for and post upcoming career opportunities, update your alumni contact information, and more!
