There are currently more than 6,000 Department of State exchange program alumni working in various public and private sectors throughout Bangladesh. Alumni-led organizations have played a vital role in shaping the country’s civil society movements and contributing to its economic growth. The most notable U.S. exchange alumni is Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who participated in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) in 1958.
U.S. government exchange alumni have free access to American Spaces in Bangladesh, including the Edward M. Kennedy (EMK) Center for Public Service and the Arts in Dhaka.
