Leuven train station is approximately 4 kilometers from the hospital. Check out www.thetrain.be for schedule and tickets. Buses depart very regularly to the Gasthuisberg campus from Leuven train station.
By bike
The Gasthuisberg campus is west of the Leuven ring. The campus can be reached by bike (or on foot):
Via the city centre (Mgr. Van Waeyenberghlaan and roundabout het Teken)
Via the Leuven ring From the direction of Herent via the cyclists' bridge across the E314. For safety the traffic at the entrance and exit is controlled with traffic lights.
From the direction of Heverlee (or Campus Arenberg) via the Celestijnenlaan and Berg Taborweg (road accessible for bikes and pedestrians, badge controlled for other vehicles).
Our campus is situated north of the campus Gasthuisberg, really at the highest point of the hill. There are several Bike park options at Gasthuisberg Campus:
O&N5 indoor bike parking level 3 (ground level) – badge controlled: to reach the parking, you need to bike uphill to the intersection of Rega Institute and the Red Cross building. Go down the road until you reach the T-crossing, there make a right turn. You will first pass by a red brick building (O&N4), then a greenish building (=O&N5). The entrance of the bike parking is situated between O&N5 and O&N5b.
Rega bike parking: when you arrive uphill at the intersection with the Rega Institute and the Red Cross building, you need to take the road down. About halfway down the road, you will see a big bicycle parking to your right at Rega Institute where you can park. Next, enter the red building (which is situated a little further down the road). Inside this building, look for the signs with blue dots containing white numbers: starting point is 9 and your end point is 12.
Bike Parking West: Using this parking will save you from climbing the hill by bike (you will make the climb on foot by stairs instead). Cycle along the southern ring road to the crossroads with Berg Taborweg. Use the bike crossing and cycle along the paediatric psychiatry building. From the bike stand, walk towards the big stairs that lead to the O&N-buildings. O&N5 is the building with the greenish bricks.
