Inspiration

Our inspiration was a club at our schools called Health Encouraging Anti-Stigma League (HEAL). They are a club dedicated to informing people about mental health as well as providing resources for middle schoolers and high schoolers so that they are more informed about mental health and mental illnesses. We also got inspiration from the many students in our school district who feel like they're under a lot of stress and don't have coping mechanisms.

What it does

Our project consists of a website and an app. The website is like a blog as well as a hub for resources regarding mindfulness and meditation.

How we built it

We built the website using HTML5 and we built the app using Swift.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into some challenges with the app because the code would almost be done, and then there would be the smallest bug that would ruin the whole thing, so we had to fix the bugs and start over sometimes. There was also the challenge of the aesthetic that we wanted. There are so many websites that use the generic "pastel" theme and we wanted to stand out. We also ran out of time to do more than one post on the blog as we wanted to emulate how in-depth a blog post would be. We weren't able to add any Google Cloud components on the app, so the articles/experiences people write won't show up on other people's phones.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of how the app and the website turned out. The aesthetic of the website is very pleasing, and it is very helpful.

What we learned

We learned how to code a very aesthetically pleasing website using HTML. We thought that only a basic website could be made using HTML, but we were able to make a very sophisticated website.

What's next for Breathe

We'd like to add more posts to Breathe as well as update our resources. We'd also like to add cloud components to our app so that it will simulate a forum where people can look at others' experiences.
