Inspiration
We were inspired by the project pitch from the Buffalo Museum of Science to develop a new app in order to maximize customer experience and keep customers safe. We saw how important the museum is to the community and wanted to help keep visitors coming back along with attracting new ones.
What it does
The new Buffalo Museum of Science app is centralized around it's location services. Once the user agrees to the terms, the app with track their location if they are in the museum. This will accomplish many goals like monitoring exhibit traffic, helping to navigate the museum through an interactive map and checking to ensure all visitors have exited the building in case of an emergency.
How we built it
This app was built using Android Studio.
Challenges we ran into
The first challenge faced was getting the project shared between all team members. After a few hours of trial and error along with waiting for program upgrades, we were able to all get on the same project. Additionally, there were some coding issues when trying to get buttons to function properly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were to able to achieve asking for permission on users phones for their location. We are also proud of creating a functioning app in this short amount of time.
What we learned
We learned a lot about Android Studio and Android API.
What's next for Buffalo Museum of Science- Team 13
After this Hackathon, we will all be returning back to work!
