Inspiration
Our planet loses 137 species and 200,000 acres of rainforest daily. While there are many dedicated conservationists working to prevent this loss, they often struggle with fragmented, complex monitoring tools. We created EcoSphere to solve this problem by unifying essential environmental monitoring tools in one intuitive platform, making it easier for conservation teams to take timely action.
What it does
EcoSphere combines three critical environmental monitoring functions:
🌿 AI-Powered Species Identification
- Instantly recognize and catalog biodiversity through photo uploads
- Get immediate conservation status
- Track population trends
🔥 Real-time Climate Alerts
- Track and respond to environmental threats
- Monitor wildfires and deforestation events
- Receive severity-based notifications
🌳Forest Coverage Monitoring
- Visualize and analyze forest health
- Interactive satellite map integration
- Track changes over time
How we built it
Frontend Stack:
- React.js for main application framework
- TailwindCSS for styling
- Recharts for data visualization
- Leaflet.js for interactive maps
API & Tools
- Google Gemini, Wikidata, Clerk for Auth
Core Features:
- Real-time dashboard updates
- Interactive data visualization
- Responsive design
Challenges we ran into
1. Data Integration
- Combining multiple data sources
- API management
- Real-time data normalization
2. Performance Optimization
