What inspired us

Traditional lending is broken. High interest rates, dependence on credit scores, and restrictions by financial institutions prevent people from getting a fair chance. We asked: What if your credit score didn’t determine access to loans, but your community did? That question inspired NASH, a platform built to give people a second chance at banking.

What NASH does

NASH is a peer-to-peer lending platform that allows borrowers to request interest-free loans, and lenders can provide funding, with transparency and community accountability. NASH is also a system that ensures that loan securities are managed without traditional credit history and scores.

How we built our project

We built NASH using Flutter for a seamless cross-platform frontend, with Supabase and PostgreSQL powering authentication, real-time data, and secure storage. Python supported backend logic and ML experiments for risk assessment. We used Ruby on Rails for backend routing management, Oracle for backend deployments, and managed collaboration through Git and GitHub.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into issues with new languages and frameworks, database integration, and spent time trying to figure out the overall structure of the concept of NASH.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Some of the accomplishments we are proud of are that our UI/UX design came out modern and visually pleasing without being too tacky. We stuck with our idea and kept building on it. Having a functional magic link and bringing live data was a huge accomplishment for us.

What we learned

We learned to integrate Supabase authentication into Flutter apps, new UI/UX designs such as glassmorphism, and animated backgrounds. We also learned to implement logos into websites.

What's next for NASH

We plan to implement a sentiment analysis system to enhance credibility beyond traditional metrics, and also to introduce a recommendation engine that matches lenders with borrowers based on risk tolerance and community trust. Improving the NASH score algorithm will also be one of our future expansions.
