The inspiration behind Rock Your Sprint Review stemmed from the need to streamline and enhance the sprint review process in agile projects. Recognizing the time and effort spent on preparing and conducting sprint reviews, we sought to leverage the power of AI to automate the creation of presentation slides, ultimately making these meetings more efficient and engaging.

What it does

Rock Your Sprint Review is an AI-driven application that automates the generation of presentation slides for sprint review meetings. It intelligently analyses completed sprint issues and creates slides based on issue content. The application groups related issues, condenses information into digestible bullet points, and even incorporates AI-generated images to enhance the presentation's visual appeal. It offers customization options with manual selection of issues for the slides.

How we built it

Rock Your Sprint Review was developed using a powerful combination of OpenAI for content analysis, integration with Jira's API for real-time data, cloud infrastructure for scalability, and deep learning models (like DALL-E) for image generation. The user-friendly interface was created with modern web technologies, while rigorous testing and agile methodologies ensured reliability and continuous improvement. Our application leverages cutting-edge technology to simplify sprint reviews and enhance the user experience.

Challenges we ran into

While developing Rock Your Sprint Review, we encountered several challenges. These included fine-tuning the AI algorithms and prompts to provide accurate grouping and content condensation, ensuring the application's compatibility with different Jira configurations, and optimizing image prompts for the best visual appeal. Additionally, the tight timeouts of the Atlassian Forge platform are an obstacle when facing the long running API calls to the AI backend. Overcoming these hurdles required significant research, development, and testing.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have created a tool that significantly streamlines the sprint review process, saving users time and effort. Our AI algorithms effectively group issues, condense content, and produce visually appealing presentations. The seamless integration with Jira ensures user convenience, and we are excited to offer a tool that enhances the presentation quality for Agile teams.

What we learned

The development of Rock Your Sprint Review taught us valuable lessons about the potential of AI in project management. We learned how to balance automation with user customization, ensuring that AI-driven solutions remain flexible and adaptable to various user needs. We also gained insights into the nuances of integrating AI into existing workflows.

What's next for Rock Your Sprint Review?

In the future, we plan to further enhance the application's capabilities. We will continue to refine our AI algorithms and incorporate user feedback to improve the application's functionality, usability, and overall user experience. Our goal is to continue revolutionizing sprint reviews and project management with AI-driven solutions. Contingent on user feedback, we potentially may look to release the app into the Atlassian Marketplace in the future.

I worked on our API requests to fetch the appropriate data and then on displaying this data in a way that felt consistent with Atlassian's styling. I also worked on Kaboom our animated rocker companion!

I worked in the backend, mainly on the part communicating with ChatGPT and optimized the backend code to make sure they do not exceed forge's limitation.
