Inspiration

I was inspired by comics like Invader Zim and animation classics like Toy Story. These works showed me how creativity and storytelling can bring whimsical, colorful worlds to life. I wanted to craft a fun, immersive environment where players could not only explore but also connect with one another. My goal was to create a vibrant, comic-inspired art style that’s as playful as it is memorable.

What it does

A fast-paced multiplayer game where 8 players compete to survive by picking safe items in a room filled with traps. One wrong choice leads to elimination, and the last player standing wins. It's a thrilling mix of strategy, luck, and chaos!

How we built it

Every asset in the game was crafted from scratch, with Blender as the foundation for 3D modeling and Photoshop used for texturing. This ensured a unique and cohesive visual identity. My scripting collaborator brought it all to life using TypeScript, creating a seamless and engaging experience for players. The blend of handcrafted artistry and robust coding formed the backbone of this project.

Challenges we ran into

Designing a fun and polished mobile game was a significant challenge. Balancing the creative process with tight deadlines pushed us to refine every detail. Despite the obstacles, we remained committed to delivering a project that felt both enjoyable and well-crafted, striving to meet our vision of a playful and engaging experience.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're incredibly proud of the world we’ve built. Seeing the game come to life as a space where people can escape, have fun, and keep coming back has been deeply rewarding. Developing a game for both mobile and VR that bridges accessibility and creativity feels like an achievement worth celebrating.

What we learned

We gained valuable insights into designing engaging multiplayer experiences. We learned how to balance simplicity and depth, ensuring gameplay is intuitive while remaining exciting and unpredictable. Player feedback highlighted the importance of clear mechanics, quick pacing, and maintaining suspense to keep the game fun and competitive.

What's next for Stay Out of my Room

Looking ahead, I plan to enhance the game by introducing more challenges and expanding the level design. These updates will stay true to the fun, colorful art style that defines the experience, ensuring the world continues to feel fresh, engaging, and exciting for players.
