AAAP Urban Dictionary Discord Bot

Inspiration

Using discord as an everyday source of social and educational outlet, we wanted to familiarize ourselves with the multitude of applications that discord offers.

What it does

The discord bot serves as a translator for unfamiliar or uncommon slang language.

How we built it

We used the Discord Developer Portal to create a token ID for the bot along with Visual Studio Code to write and compile codes (in Node.js).

Challenges we ran into

A challenge that we ran into was locating a usable dictionary APIs that the Discord bot could use.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Learning how to employ Node.js in Visual Studio Code to activate our Discord bot that would translate slang words and phrases with a simple command.

What's next for Urban Dictionary Discord Bot

With the Urban Dictionary Discord Bot being our first take on a discord bot, we hope that we can create a thesaurus and non-slang dictionary discord bot in the near future.
