Benjamín León, Jr. is the United States Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain and the Principality of Andorra. He was sworn in by Secretary of State Marco Rubio on February 10, 2026 and presented his credentials to His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain on February 18, 2026.

Prior to his appointment, Ambassador León built a distinguished career in the health care sector, where he played a significant role in expanding access to medical services and improving care delivery for senior populations. He is the founder of León Medical Centers, a network of health care facilities serving communities in South Florida and has been widely recognized for his leadership in health care innovation and management.

In addition to his work in health care, Ambassador León has been a real estate developer and investor, including both commercial and residential properties. He is a life-long supporter of philanthropic and community-focused initiatives supporting health, education, and social services.

Ambassador León has a longstanding interest in the equestrian field. His leadership in the equestrian community reflects his appreciation for discipline, tradition, and international exchange through sport.

Ambassador León is married to Mavi León. He has two daughters, Silvia and Lourdes, and a son, Benjamín III, from a prior marriage.
