Yes. Keycard works standalone with NFC-enabled smartphones via the Status app on iOS and Android, or with the USB Desktop Reader on desktop. The Shell is optional and adds air-gapped signing and a dedicated screen.
As many as you want. For instance, one for daily use, one at home, one offsite with a trusted person. At €25 each, the cost of redundancy is trivial compared to what you're securing.
If you have a backup Keycard with the same keys, you can continue using it immediately. If you've lost all copies, your seed phrase is your recovery path.
Both are card-shaped hardware wallets, but the architecture is different. Keycard is fully open-source, uses a JCOP4 EAL6+ secure element, and is designed as part of a modular system with the Shell. Tangem relies on a proprietary companion app. Keycard uses open standards.
