Weird messaging system behaviour
Reporting a glitch that has happened on our boards for a while now. I thought it was just me, but other members have no mentioned it. At the top of many (but not every) private message threads, an old message appears. Different in each thread, and unrelated to the recipient. Usually, it's an old pm from a no longer registered member.

Is it possible to reply to user when a post or topic is moderated?
@michimachi This might be just what you are looking for: https://administrata.net/software/item/54-ai-assisted-moderator/ The app nudges the (new) member in the correct direction when posting against guidelines. Thus, avoiding the need to delete the post/topic. This app is something I might well purchase soon - it looks really interesting and probably has many potential uses for us. There is the ability to use AI or not. There are three modes: Keyword; AI; and Hybrid. The app looks powerful enough so that it will work well using just keywords. Alternatively, using in-built IC systems, something we do with topics queued for approval (which do not fulfill our requirements) is to respond to the member there, within the topic. If they edit their opening post, or acknowledge our request, or whatever the problem might be is resolved, we hide (not delete) the additional posts (the moderation discussion with the member) and then approve the topic. This preserves the moderation discussion in case it is needed later for some reason.

Deleting PMs does not Delete to Recipient
I can understand arguments in both directions. But one thing we should also consider is that in the case of an abusive PM, we would not wish to see the PM deleted after the recipient has read it, but before they have had the opportunity to report it. So, for this reason alone, I am in favour of the status quo.

Suggestion: Member alert option when post has been moved with split tool.
Agreed. It does seem like an oversight to not have this included.

5.0.17 is now available!
As mentioned in your topic, you will need to downgrade to PHP 8.3 which is a supported version of our software or restore your files from the backup you took prior to the upgrade. This is the issue which we are trying to prevent and is a new feature in this release of our software. We apologize for the inconvenience of being stuck but if you install on or use a version of PHP that is not supported, that also will cause issues/headaches/tickets and what we are trying to prevent here.

Monthly Upload Quota
I'd like to see the ability to set a monthly image/file upload quota per usergroup. Perhaps with the ability to set the number of files and total space allocation for the month (but at least have the ability to set the allowed monthly space). As things stand, when a member hits the limit and requests more, we increase the allowance (for all members in the main usergroup). They then hit the new limit, and so on. New members have the same (vast) limit as long established members - this is very far from ideal. Yes, we could move members between usergroups, but this is messy and far less than optimal. A monthly quota would also lend itself to subscription payments where the monthly allocation is increased over a basic allowance. Com'on - you know it makes sense. 🙂

5.0.17 is now available!
I don't get this. You guys created a version that I installed 3 weeks ago, which worked on 8.4 without giving me any warnings of the dangers. It then prompts me to update, without again warning that the board would become inaccessible. Then I'm trapped in an upgrade loop, as there is no Cancel option. I can't revert to a backup as the server doesn't have a backup that goes back more than 1 day. Is there a way to manually push through the update, or will I be stuck with a downed community until 8.5 is supported?

Member 'storage'
You can increase the amount in groups. And members can indeed individually delete content to clear space. That is found in the user menu under attachments.

Member 'storage'
Can a member clear their storage on our site?.. ? Or can admins do anything about it? They're trying to add something but can't because their storage on the site is full

New website!
I speak to LEGO every week, they have a community for their local user groups.
-
New website!
There is this Lego community site: https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/forums/ But that's not operated by Lego.

New website!
@ntxpla If i have to believe the frontpage of www.invisioncommunity.com it seems to suggest that Lego or Sony uses IC as software. (and others) However googleing for those forums does not find any IC software, it does find other forumsoftware used by those company's ??? So i wonder if those company's on the frontpage are really using it?

New website!
Matt, can you provide a few links of big companies using Invision? I am curious to see how large corporations handle their public forums. Maybe no better than the rest of us :) Thank you

Question, did anything change with the login? Whenever I switch device, going from computer to mobile, I need to login. Going from mobile to computer, I need to login again. Every time.

New website!
I can't promise detailed docs on the PHP framework, but there's room for improvement on a lot of other areas.

I have corrected the issue for you. It looks like you simply closed the upgrader before it had completed. It looks like its probably you trying to contact us, given you ahve posted here from your client account. Please note, while you can tell us from that account what emails you believe it to be licensed under, you must contact from an associated email itself. This is for the security of your account, otherwise anyone could ask us to do anything if they know your email address.
-
Update failed
You posted a ticket under an email not associated with your license there, so we would not correspond with you on that email address. I have replied to that, but you need to submit a ticket from the email associated with your license, and we can then help you on this.

New website!
New website looks great, lovely job guys. I do like the focus on the branded logos and the work you guys do with these big corporations, it definitely helps to realign expectations on the scale of business that Invision attracts with IC5 these days (instead of just looking like a hobbyist platform solution like the V4 site did). Only thing missing is in-depth technical/development documentation... which I think has been teased to be released by the IPS team ever since Beta 1 of IC5 now? 😄
