FLOWERS is an afro-futuristic fairytale of love, following a ceremony of a mother giving away her son, adopting references to classic Disney stories from the 1930s-50s, modernising tropes for a coming of age tale. Casting this project enabled us to find new and exciting talent without much prior acting experience, and working closely with them on a deep and subtle performance. We also cast renowned writer and political journalist Afua Hirsch as the mother. Flowers was selected for the BFI Film Festival 2022.
