Join us for the 215th Anniversary Symposium, celebrating the life and legacy of Elihu Burritt! Elihu Burritt – Abolitionist, pacifist, linguist, global reformer, and the namesake and patron of the University Library will be honored on:

  • Wednesday, April 22, 2026, 1-3pm in Founders Hall, Davidson Hall

Speakers include: John Loughery, on Elihu Burritt’s Life and our Historical Memory, Dr. Robert Wolff on Elihu Burritt in the UK, and Sherrod “Rod” Skinner on the Burritt Family Ethos from a Descendant’s Perspective. A poetry reading, original song, and book signing will also be featured. For those who can stay later, you can enjoy a slice of Elihu Burritt’s birthday cake!
