F is for Feathered Friends | #AoZChallenge 2026

We have quite a few feathered friends visit our balcony. These include house sparrows, bulbuls, rufous treepies, crows and common mynas (starlings). Oh! And how could I forget the omnipresent pigeons?! Starlings (mynas) have a special place in my heart. They have been visiting our home for the past 16 years. Their chatty energy, walk like an Egyptian strides and strong familial bonds; captivate me unfailingly. They love grapes. In summer, the bird bath transforms to their “cool down tub”….

E is for Elephants, The Forest Keepers | #AtoZChallenge 2026

“They say an elephant never forgets. What they don’t tell you is, you never forget an elephant.” – Bill Murray. The wisdom of elephants, our gentle giants can take humans by surprise. Elephants posses a few human like traits. A deep sense of empathy, superior intelligence and community bonds (lead by the matriarch); an integral part of their being. Unfortunately, humans are transgressing from these traits. Keepers of the Forest During a visit to a well-known national park, I chance…

D is for Dolphins (Gangetic River Dolphins) | #AtoZChallenge 2026

My first brush with the Gangetic river dolphins (locally called Taal Bhosh) was as a little girl. They left me star struck. No trip to the Ganges river would be complete without looking out for them. My grandfather’s home is by the river Ganga, in a quaint, little town called Katwa, district Burdwan (in the Eastern periphery of India.) Back in those days, the Gangetic river dolphins ruled the river. I could spend hours by the banks, watching them come…

C is for Cats say the Darnest Things | #AtoZChallenge 2026

I’m working on telepathically finding a missing cat called Candy, from Banglore, South of India. Candy has now been missing for 14 long days. Her human is a frazzled bag of nerves. All the attempts to find Candy have been in vain. Candy tells me, “I’m having a jolly good adventure, traipsing around the woods nearby. I have no intention of coming back soon.” “Candy, but your human is distraught and stressed about your well being,” I inform her. “Oh!…

B is for Bail us Out | AtoZChallenge 2026

The rain-soaked landscape, is thrilled and perplexed, at the same time. A rain and storm in the midst of a scorching summer is a welcome respite for us. Not for some – victims of its fury. I am out for a walk, enjoying the momentary, pleasant weather. The storm has taken down a staggering, old palm tree. My heart breaks to see the gargantuan palm, now razed to the ground. I look at it, knowing chances are bleak of it…

A is for Animal & Nature Communication | AtoZChallenge 2026

“Some people talk to animals. Not many listen.” – A.A. Milne, Winnie the Pooh Telepathic Animal and Nature communication** isn’t a gift, bestowed to just a few. It’s something we all are capable of; only if we listen, and trust the messages that come through. Circa 70s – 80s, Pantnagar, Terai region I’ve been a nature and animal lover, for as long as I can remember. I was born in a university campus, and grew up next to the sprawling Terai…

Theme Reveal | #AtoZChallenge 2026

I know I’m late to the Theme Reveal party for the April A to Z Blogging Challenge 2026. I had no idea I would re-kindling my love affair with A to Z, yet again in 2026. It’s been an incredibly long hiatus. I participated in the April A to Z challenges in 2017 and 2018. More about them here. Without much ado, my theme for this year’s A to Z is something that most of you and I are deeply…

Nature’s Voice & Nine Years on WP

Nature’s Voice & Nine Years on WP

“If you truly love nature, you will find beauty everywhere.” –Vincent van Gogh This has been the longest I’ve been away from my precious nook, Natasha Musing (over a year). As I type these words, I feel a certain excitement brew in my soul, much like the fragrant and delicate swirls of vapour on my decaf; on this cold, winter morning. Turns out my blog turned 9, on 6 December, 2025. (Technically nine on WP, though we’ve been around longer…

Exploring Agumbe Rainforests with KCRE | Learning Adventures in Nature’s Classroom- II | Finale

Internship Lessons in the Agumbe Rainforests When Priyanka, Program manager at KCRE, and I spoke a promise was made regarding Aarshia’s internship with KCRE in the Agumbe rainforests. “To let Aarshia explore the forests on her own.” Yet, a parent was to accompany her to Agumbe, as she just turned sixteen. It was also a great opportunity for me, to be part of this learning based adventure. I ended up grabbing it with both my arms. Agumbe has been…

Exploring Agumbe Rainforests with KCRE : Learning Adventures in Nature’s Classroom – I

The tranquil forests of Agumbe have come alive. A musical pitter-patter is at play. The nimbus clouds release a flurry of pearl droplets. They dance and swirl unfettered; in mid-air, before they embrace the landscape; imbuing it with a fresh lease of life. The forests is decked in lush, bejewelled shades of green. The stream gurgles to the symphony of a multitude of mating frogs. An idyllic place to get lost in your solitude. The crickets and katydids break into a…
