📜 COMMUNITY RULES
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
1. Absolutely no bigotry of any kind
Absolutely no bigotry of any kind. This includes transphobia, homophobia, racism, sexism, etc.
2. Be Kind to Each Other
This community is for thoughtful, respectful discussions. Leave the hate and personal attacks at the door. Let’s keep this space positive and welcoming for everyone.
“Certainly we will continue to disagree, but we must disagree without becoming violently disagreeable.” - Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
3. Posts must be Relevant to this sub
Posts should present topics related to Black people.
4. Do Not Harass Moderators
Moderators are volunteers. Do not threaten or harass the mod team. Do not send modmail to complain about posts or users. Do not DM members of the mod team. Use the report function to report content. Use modmail thoughtfully and politely. Remember the human.
5. No Selling or Soliciting
No selling, offering or soliciting for business on this sub. This includes seeking donations, surveys, and research. We are not your customers, teachers, or test subjects.
6. No broad “Why do white people” or “Why do Black people” style generalizations
Posts or comments that make sweeping statements about whole groups of people are not allowed here. Questions like “Why do white people” or “Why do Black people” open the door to stereotyping, hostility, and brigading from outside the community. Keep discussions focused on specific experiences, behaviors or situations instead of turning entire groups into a single category. This keeps the space respectful and prevents the sub from getting overrun by arguments or bad faith replies.
7. Zero Tolerance for Trolling
This space centers Black people, Black culture, and Black lived experiences. Our identity is not debate material. Any form of trolling, baiting, snide "questions," culture-poking, dogwhistles, derailments, or attempts to disguise hostility as curiosity will be removed. Users who test the line, play word games, or look for loopholes will be removed as well. We are not here to be provoked or picked apart. Be respectful, be real, or be gone.
8. No Violent or Graphic Content
No Violent or Graphic Content Posts that depict, promote, or strongly imply violence or physical harm are not allowed, whether real or fictional. This includes killings, assaults, executions, gore, or footage where serious injury or death is shown or likely. Framing content as news, awareness, or commentary does not exempt it. This subreddit is for discussion and analysis, not shock content or low-effort violent posts. Moderators may remove content at their discretion.
9. Positive Subreddit Karma Required for Discussion Flaired Posts
Discussion flaired posts are reserved for users who have positive karma (~60) within r/BlackPeopleofReddit. This is not about gatekeeping for no reason. It’s about making sure conversations are led by people who actually participate here in good faith. Without it, “Discussion” posts quickly turn into:
1. Troll bait
2. Bad faith questions
3. Outsiders dropping in with no investment in the community
