Welcome to the American Citizen Services Section of the Embassy of the United States in Paramaribo. Providing service and assistance to U.S. citizens in Suriname is our top priority.

American Citizen Services: The U.S. Embassy in Paramaribo provides regular U.S. passport, U.S. citizenship, and notary services by appointment only. Appointments must be scheduled online through our website or by emailing us at caparamar@state.gov.  For more information about the services we provide, please follow the links below.

Immigrant Visa Services: The U.S. Embassy in Suriname does not process Immigrant Visas. See U.S. Embassy Guyana for more information.

In an emergency (death, arrest, victims of violent crime) involving an American citizen living or traveling in Suriname and French Guiana, you can reach us 24 hours a day/7 days a week.
  • At least one parent having the nationality of the United States at the time of the child’s birth;
  • The existence of a blood relationship between the child and U.S. citizen parent(s);
  • Documentary evidence demonstrating the U.S. citizen parent(s)’ presence in the United States prior to the child’s birth, as specified in the Transmission Requirements Table below.
