A European research consortium has found a way to improve robotic-assisted surgery by enhancing robotic systems with a variety of different non-visual sensor technologies. The systems can acquire surgeon-like autonomous behavior with physical and cognitive intelligence.
A first prototype delivered significant results, potentially leading to higher surgical accuracy in the near future.
The research group consists of expert researchers and principal investigators from KU Leuven (Belgium), Sorbonne University (France), King's College London (UK), Spineguard (France), Balgrist University Hospital and University of Zurich (Switzerland).
