Work on Climate (WoCl) is a leading non-profit focused on mobilizing humanity’s talent to build a regenerative, climate-positive economy.
You probably know us for our online community — the world’s largest climate career and action community — which has helped thousands of people find climate jobs, start companies, and build impactful networks. We’ve been featured in Fast Company, the New York Times, Wired, and more.
But our work is entering a new chapter beyond helping individuals find climate jobs.
We’re now supporting professionals to engage in climate leadership — organizing, mobilizing, and transforming whole sectors and regions toward regenerative futures, through regional chapters of issue-focused work. (Read more about this transition here: https://workonclimate.org/2025/12/17/where-work-on-climate-is-headed/).
Today, our community activities team is geo-located internationally and meets once weekly on Tuesdays at 10am PT. We are upgrading all our events to truly connect people who can help each other move ideas into action, and to build durable work relationships and collaborations that continue beyond the session.
Event coordinators are responsible for leading about one online event every 4-6 weeks. These might be co-hosted with partner organizations or part of an ongoing Work on Climate program, but they always involve coordinating with external guests, delegating tasks across the volunteer team, and handling the needed technical setup and support.
In addition to playing a critical role in enabling the climate talent transition, you will get to:
You will collaborate with other WoCl volunteer teams to design and deliver online community activities such as events and workshops. These activities support members in their climate career and leadership journey, while creating the time and space for people to build real relationships and collaborate with other climate professionals. You may do some or all of the following:
You will need to be highly self-motivated and capable of breaking down large tasks into smaller components, prioritizing your work, and identifying when you need help (and asking for it!).
Yay! We’re excited to learn more about you. Please fill out this application form to tell us about your skills and interests in volunteering with our awesome team. If you’re excited about the role but don’t meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply. We strive to reach out to applicants within 1 to 2 weeks. Generally, our recruitment process includes a 30-minute screening with a recruiter and a 30-minute interview with the team or Team Lead.

The Data Integration team (formerly Metrics & Data) builds the data infrastructure that enables Work on Climate’s programs to measure impact and make strategic decisions.
The team has two active workstreams: data engineering (pipeline architecture, ingestion, infrastructure) and data analysis (Hex dashboards, semantic views, self-serve tooling). Our goal is for program teams to self-serve answers to their strategic questions without needing engineering help each time.
Right now, these workstreams are tightly coupled — improving what analysts can do in Hex depends directly on getting the underlying architecture right. The team has identified a need to move from the current JavaScript framework to a more scalable Python-based architecture.
The current friction: Whilst work moves forward on individual pipelines, the overarching infrastructure of Work on Climate’s data remains unresolved. The incoming lead will set the technical direction for what comes next and manage volunteers through building and documenting this architecture.
We are geo-located across Canada, US, and Europe. Our standard meeting schedule is once a week on Tuesdays @ 9am PST (UTC-8).
We’re looking for a Data Integration Team Lead to architect the technical foundation for Work on Climate’s next chapter. As we move away from reactive data requests toward a “shift-left” approach—where data is designed into our programs from the start—you will lead the engineering team to build a scalable, Python-based data infrastructure. You will be the technical partner to our Director of Community & Operations and the data team’s analysts, ensuring that the “pipes” the data engineers build directly enable systems change through organizing and collective action.
This role is highly impactful and rewarding, but we want to be upfront that success requires sustained commitment:
You will lead the data integration workstream and ensure the entire data ecosystem (Engineering → Analysis → Insights and improvements) works harmoniously — bringing a “Penultimate Question” mindset: will this piece of architecture enable analysts to help the programs teams answer their questions?
You should be a collaborative architect — more than building the pipes, you like understanding what goes through them. You enjoy working with non-engineers to ensure technical decisions serve human goals.
Personal qualities – among your peers, you have a reputation for:
Our most impactful volunteers are internally motivated, and contribute to this work because they believe in our mission and see how their work makes a difference. However, if you are choosing between several impactful opportunities, consider that you’ll get to:

The Organizer Support team makes chapter-based coordination scalable; this team will support the organizers by getting to know them, learning what their needs are, and figuring out the best ways to meet them. This team is integral to helping organisers learn from each other’s challenges and successes, identifying patterns across chapters that build and sustain collective power, and ensuring that organising knowledge compounds and transfers across sectors to other chapters.
Our team meets weekly on Wednesdays at 10:00 am PT / 1:00 pm ET / 6:00 pm BST
You’ll provide direct support to chapter organizers in the community through regular check-ins, resource development, and pattern identification. This role directly impacts the success and scalability of chapters by creating conditions where community leaders feel connected and supported.
In collaboration with the team and organizers on the ground, we’ll develop toolkits and other resources that will become scalable frameworks to support the climate work movement.
We’re building an organizer support infrastructure to help chapter leads and program coordinators succeed in their volunteer roles. This position is open as we scale from supporting individual organizers to coordinating multi-chapter best practices. During your term, we need you to create support resources, conduct 1:1 check-ins with organizers, and identify patterns that inform systemic improvements to volunteer infrastructure.
This role is highly impactful and rewarding, but we want to be upfront that our most successful volunteers dedicate:
