Base is an international network of creative studios — a company of cultures rooted locally, linked globally.
About us
Base is an international network of creative studios. A company of cultures working across Brussels, New York, Geneva, Melbourne, Saigon, and our Digital studio. We’re independent by nature and connected by choice. Each studio is rooted in its own city and culture, yet linked by shared curiosity, craft, and values. Together we work across strategy, design, and technology to create ideas that move with the world — clear, meaningful, and built to last. Founded in the early '90s, Base continues to evolve through collaboration. Today, the group is led by partners across all studios, shaping a model that grows through difference rather than duplication. Our collaborations include: Apple, Uniqlo, Uber, Fondation Louis Vuitton, MoMA, The New York Times, KANAL Centre Pompidou, Institut Français de la Mode, La Galerie Dior, Mecca, Suntory, 12 Matcha, Caudalie, La Prairie, Kit, Bongénie, DoorDash, Biennale of Sydney, Art Gallery of South Australia, Caran d’Ache, QoQa, NY Mets, The Prince Estate, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and JFK Terminal 4. Base Group is a certified B Corp, with our Brussels and New York studios part of the global movement. Learn more here: https://www.bcorporation.net/en-us/find-a-b-corp/company/base-group-inc/

FAB008: our latest Friend at Base, Nolan Paparelli hosted by BaseGVA. Based in Munich, the Swiss graphic and type designer shared his path into type design and the development of his typeface Everett, among other typeface projects. From building a type family over time to its application in identity work, the conversation focused on detail, iteration, and a practice that’s never really finished. Motion + design by Louis Dessaux

The best merch doesn’t feel like “merch.” BaseNYC Partner Geoff Cook speaks with Merchery about how merchandise can extend a brand into the fabric of everyday life.
Case study - Geoff Cook on how branding and merch are connected. Geoff Cook, Partner at Base Design in NYC, walks us through the close link between merchandising and branding. Two elements that, when aligned, can truly amplify a brand’s identity. Together, we’ve collaborated on many clients like Bellerose, Maison Dandoy, l’Institut Français de la Mode, and more, on creating merch that doesn’t just exist, but truly resonates with each brand identity. Discover his thoughts in the interview.

Somewhere, it’s always too early or too late. Scheduling across time zones: the science of making everyone slightly miserable, together. SPAM 041 just dropped. Read it → https://lnkd.in/e_aHVwpk Subscribe for the next edition → https://lnkd.in/eKGcKGGu

YIELD STRENGTH: Magazines capture a moment. Catalogues are forever. BaseMEL's publication for Yield Strength, 19th Adelaide Biennial at Art Gallery of South Australia, curated by Ellie Buttrose, takes the first path: a single-signature soft-cover, floppy, tactile, designed for browsing, not ceremony. No fixed sequence. No scholarly arc. Just the texture of the show, in print. What makes a visual identity both authentic and relevant in 2026? BaseNYC Design Director Carlos Bocai's 'Decoding Identities' course is now open for registration at Aprender Design. Info + registration: https://lnkd.in/diRAaWwe
The way designers work is changing fast. Aprender Design’s online Decoding Identities course is built around that reality. Decoding Identities, led by Carlos Bocai (Base Design) and Julia B Aguiar (Jones Knowles Ritchie), returns to Aprender Design after a one-year hiatus with a format reworked to reflect how the industry looks right now. Both instructors share how their own processes have evolved at two very different global agencies, giving students a dual perspective on navigating new tools and expectations. The hands-on project has been opened up too. Students build a complete visual identity from scratch with 1:1 mentorship from both instructors. It runs from 14th April to 28th May 2026. ——— Find out more → https://lnkd.in/g3CvZPqp

YIELD STRENGTH: Everything strains. Nothing resolves. For Yield Strength, 2026 Adelaide Biennial at the Art Gallery of South Australia, curated by Ellie Buttrose, BaseMEL built an identity that exposes its own strain: design elements at tension with their frames, never resolving, never snapping back.
