About us
Our story began more than 40 years ago. Today we are a global company, among the largest players in the energy sector in Europe and the 4th largest producer of wind energy. We are proud to be a leading utility integrated in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (World). We want to build a new energy by promoting renewable sources. To do this, we have chosen ... ... to be 100% green by 2030; ... to be Net Zero by 2040; ... to innovate, to shape the energy sector; ... empower our communities to live more sustainably. Ours is the energy that strives to create a better future, inspired by people from four regional hubs. It is the energy that knows no borders, that never sleeps, and that connects us to you. We will harness wind, sun and water to lead the energy transition. We will all be green. We choose the Earth. Welcome to the official EDP Group LinkedIn page.

The 2020s have already proven to be a fast-moving decade, where change happens almost overnight and being ready to adapt is essential. In the past six years, we’ve achieved a lot in many different parts of the world and in many different ways. From the closure of the Sines thermoelectric power plant in Portugal to the expansion of our renewables footprint in Asia-Pacific, we’re taking bold steps to make the Earth a more sustainable place. Innovation continues to guide us, as reflected in our pioneering hybrid projects. Every step we take demonstrates how we turn ambition into action and ideas into impact. With four more years still ahead of us, we’re determined to keep making this decade one for the books. 🌍 Explore more stories that have shaped EDP in our first 50 years 👉 https://lnkd.in/e5Vp6gbY #EDPWeChooseEarth #EDP50Years

Thousands of miles away, a message from space resonates here on Earth. 🌍 As NASA's Artemis II crew re-established contact, they shared a powerful reminder: "We will always choose Earth. We will always choose each other." From their unique vantage point, Earth is not just a planet - it is a shared spaceship, carrying all of us. A single system where trust, cooperation and responsibility are not optional but essential, especially in the face of the unknown. At EDP, we share this sense of mission. We believe that choosing Earth means protecting what sustains us, and choosing each other is the only way to build a safe and sustainable future - together. Because in space, as on Earth, the future depends on the choices we make today. And we choose Earth. Find out how this commitment guides our decisions and endeavours every day 👉 https://lnkd.in/eMs4J_vB #EDPWeChooseEarth

Have you ever imagined a world of darkness? It’s easy to take energy for granted. But in places where it’s missing, it becomes the foundation for change. That’s why EDP is launching the 8th edition of the Access to Energy (A2E) Fund, with the ambition of promoting energy inclusion through renewable energy solutions. With a total of €1 million available, and support ranging from €50,000 to €150,000 per project, the fund is looking for innovative initiatives to be developed in Brazil, Mozambique, Kenya, Malawi and Nigeria, focused on key areas such as education, healthcare, water, community and local business. As part of the broader A2E Programme, which has supported projects across geographies for over 15 years, this initiative reflects EDP’s long-term commitment to expanding access to clean and reliable energy. Applications open until May 5. Learn more and apply 👉 https://lnkd.in/eHhkH7Xa #EDPWeChooseEarth #EnergyInclusion

Nature is not just a backdrop for our activities; it underpins the reliability of our energy systems, the stability of our supply chains and the resilience of the communities we serve. Unfortunately, nature is currently facing unprecedented pressure. At EDP, we are taking action: we integrate nature into all decisions moving towards a positive balance on nature in the long term. By doing so, we are embedding nature protection along project life cycle applying mitigation hierarchy, while supporting societal endeavours. More than generating renewable energy and reducing emissions, our purpose is to make our assets more resilient, managing nature-related risks, while respecting and restoring the natural systems we depend on. #EDPWeChooseEarth #Nature

The Women Up programme - in partnership with Nova SBE Executive Education and Sonae - reflects EDP’s ongoing commitment to more inclusive leadership. It is designed to support women in leadership roles and help them accelerate their careers. This past March, during the month of International Women’s Day, participants from around the world came together for an immersive, in-person week at NOVA SBE in Carcavelos. Over six days, they shared experiences, challenged perspectives and strengthened the skills needed to lead in an increasingly complex world. At EDP, we believe leadership diversity is not just important - it is a competitive advantage and a key part of shaping what comes next. 🎬 Watch the video to see how this week unfolded. #EDPWeChooseEarth #WomenUp

EDP has expanded its renewable footprint in Spain with the commissioning of two new photovoltaic plants in Navarra: Cierzo II (42 MW) and Cierzo IV (47.5 MW), adding a combined 90 MW of clean energy to the electricity system. Combined, these projects will power 45,000 households, avoid an estimated 400,000 tonnes of CO₂ and have created over 200 jobs across 60 companies, reinforcing energy independence and a sustainable transition in the region. EDP has also implemented infrastructure improvements and robust biodiversity measures, including habitat protection for steppe birds, nest boxes for lesser kestrels, and shelters for bats, reinforcing our commitment to responsible renewable development in Navarra.
